It was stopped due to a torn rotator cuff, and he was ahead by 5 rounds on the score cards. The fact that you have to cherry pick a fight he was completely outboxing is opponent in, and only lost because of a torr rotator cuff, as the major weak point in his career, shows how great Vitali really was. It proof and not counter proof of how good he is.

Is a fight 5 rounds? Why do you repeat the same sentence over and over like a broken record.

Wow lmao Joe Louis the longest heavyweight title holder of all time? W the most defenses? Worse than Vitali?!?!?!

Klits are good but c'mon Vitali would be KTFO by round 5. He beat ALI! And their other fights were close af. And before you give me oh he'd keep him at distance with the jab, how'd that work Muhamad Ali aka the GOAT?

So whats Povetkin then who beat Firtha for 5 rounds with just one arm? That wasn't a guy who was using both arms. No , Povetkin went round after round only throwing jabs and left hooks because his right hand was completey gone. .
That was a guy with a REAL injury. You could see it and the commentators talked about it. If he was Vitali , he would have tapped out in his corner.
Greats win with injuries. They don't quit. Vitali losing against the best guys he faced proves how NOT great he was.

vitali got retired by a SMW basically, with up to 100lbs less weight in natural body weight.

imagine joe louis being retired by a light flyweight. Ha!

If you finish your career, and the worst thing someone can say about you is a fight you were clearly winning was stopped because of an injury, then yes it is proof of how great you really are, obviously.

Because you're not very bright, and need it repeated to you. Vitali was clearly outclassing Byrd, he was ahead by five rounds. The fight was only stopped because of an injury. You trying to use this as a major weakness just proves how great Vitali was.

Vitali only fought heavyweights his entire career I'm afraid. Chris Byrd was 210 pounds. Joe Louis on the other hand did lose, and get outboxed by three very small cruiserweights. Which is more proof of how much better Vitali was than Joe Louis.

Your assuming the majority of this forum can dissect the meaning of that quote.....unfortunately for us there's been a huge spike in agenda driven ethnocentrism on this site and I fear for the future of this race...the human race that is.

Fights don't get stopped because of injuries dummy. Vitali quit even though he was using both arms in round 9. I see you ducked that video I posted.

Where does a guy who I consider the most complete fighter we've ever had the privilege to see fit into all this then?

If great fighters don't quit when the going gets tough where does Roberto Duran fit?
