You taking Herol behind the woodshed again? :bash: Just be warned that he's warming up his great retort "Klitturd self disintegrates" as we speak :risas3:

To add something worthwhile to this thread:

Vitali was much "bigger" than Joe Louis. He knew how to use his dimensions extremely well. I'd reckon he'd probably beat Louis H2H more easily than people would believe possible.

    "Better" is another argument.

Louis fought deliberately, but correctly. Technically he was excellent and he hit like a ton of bricks, and had a great jab to boot. Scale him up to Vits' size or scale Vits down to Louis' size and the result could well be reversed. IMHO, of course.

Louis was a great champion. Top 3 heavy and best of his era. What was Vitali during his own era?

One of the few threads where Blizzy isn't the one making the idiotic posts. That's saying something! Come on Bacon... You're better than this.

Emanuel Steward always used to say how good Vitali was at sensing and feeling punches coming before his opponents could completely get the punches off. So even if his opponents did manage to hit him.. Vitali took a lot off their shots because he was often rolling with them.

VERY rarely did Vitali get hit with flush shots. And when he did, he had the chin to not get hurt.

Today heavyweights use 12-ounce gloves. Back in Louis day, 6 ounces were common. It's a huge difference. Just imagine how impactfully Vitali's punches would be with those 6-ounce gloves vs men who often weighed under 200 pounds that Louis fought. Just saying...

Ali fought a list of ATGs as long as your arm. His feet almost never touched the canvas when he as at his best. Vitali's legs were stiff as two poles and he dragged his right foot around after him. Vitali was riddled in mistakes and a technical pin point accurate hitter like Louis would make him pay dearly for them. Luois was simply better in every department apart from height , but that wouldn't matter , Louis has a 100% success rate of bettering guys Vitali's size.

Vitali fought the worst of a terrible era. He didn't even fight the best of his weak era. He fought the WORST of it. His brother dealt with 75% of the division. Vitali was just a bit part title holder like Wilder is now.
Floyd beat guys ranked on the pound 4 pound list year in year out. Vitali never beat a pound 4 pound level talent. EVER.
There's no accomplishment in winning rounds against bums and it certainty doesn't prove you can beat genuine all time greats.

I would love to see Vitali try to overpower someone like Sonny Liston.

Because nobody was able to push Liston around LOL

If Galento could drop Louis, imagine what Shannon Briggs would do to him.

Two can play at this game ;)

I was unaware the judges give style points for graceful footwork, and if this is the case the very mechanical north/south movement of Joe Louis is going to be an issue. Oh, and he was slow footed. When you give up a lot of height and reach ( as Louis would vs Vitali ) and have slower feet, it's tough in boxing.

Vitali moved swiftly around the ring. It matters not how he did it, what matters is how swiftly he did it, and the fact that he could keep the pace for 12 rounds if needed. Watch the films. You'll see.

Louis is no doubt a legend in his time, but so is Jessie Ownes. Ya think Ownes would beat Usain Bolt in a 100-meter dash race?

Regarding era, Louis time was worse. Historians say so and there was something called World War II that drained the talent base.

Correct. There is something called punch anticipation. Vitali had it, and he was a master of getting the distance when he could land and the smaller shorter man could not.
