Is Vitali making a mistake by not fighting a dust buster before Peter?

i for one think he should of tookin one. no matter what i think of peter hes still a tough fighter whos looking to brawl that night so i can only go two ways. i guess it all dpends on training camp for both fighters its a prove yourself for both fighters.

no, like someone mentioned, getting through two training camps (it looks like he is really going to make it this time) is much too risky. he can beat up journeymen in sparring, which he probably did. it's a bit of a gamble, but if he wins he will be a hero.

Not too many exhibit the discipline to conditioning and training as he does, fighting, and even between fights.

So I think he don't see this downtime as being much of a hinderance on him, and he also said he feels like a new person after his ongoing back problem has been corrected.

That said, I think the fact that he's confident enough in himself to take Peter on, cold, makes this feat much more noteworthy, and the fight so much more appealing, as we want to see if his confidence is warranted, and if he can really pull it off.

Sure, we all know that Peter is a limited fighter with overstated power, but he is a titleholder who took Oleg out, so he is not without merit. Before Peter is belittled too much, you have to acknowledge the belt he has over his shoulder that he won, fair and square, in the ring.

So, Vitali beating Peter will certainly be a history making accompishment, as far as comebacks go. I think this will be the most watched heavyweight fight since Wlad fought Peter, and before that, probably the most watched since Vitali fought Lewis.

And Vitali fighting Peter, a titleholding champion, right out of retirement and after having something like three surgeries, is a big part fo what makes the fight so interesting.

Everyone will be watching to see if he can really do it.

A power fighter forsure should take a warm up fight just look what happened in the Gomez-Virichs fight.

He couldn't get Maskaev when he wanted him and there is no way this fragile giant is going to make it through two training camps.

It's all or nothing. He's taking a huge risk fighting the #2 heavyweight in the world after being off 4 years. You better believe the German gestapo will be out in full force to ensure he wins. But it won't be enough. Sammy will stop him inside 10.

Also don't be surprised to see some very shady calls and a near or certain DQ if Sammy is called on it.

He's the "champion emeritus" so he gets an immediate title shot.

He hasn't made it through his last 5 training camps, so it's a risk to put more wear-and-tear to his brittle, steroid-damaged body to go thru a training camp to fight a journeyman. Might as well be a title-holder.

Vitali would not have taken the fight with no tuneup if he knew it would be an issue. Let's get real here this is Sam Peter he is fighting not a Prime Holyfield, Foreman, Tyson, or Ali.

Or an aging, undertrained, inactive for a year Lewis.

We saw what happened when a more healthy, young Vitali faced that version of Lewis.

Peter will also be facing the worst version of Vitali. If he loses Peter will be the laughingstock of the Boxing World and his career will be is shambles. 50% Vitali beats the limited Peter.

Of course not. I mean, according to most, all Vitaly has to do is walk into the ring and look at Peter and Peter will be knocked unconscious and Vitalay will win by brutal KO and set a world record in doing so. The next day he will return to Ukraine where the entire country will stop and have a 21 day gala parade after which, he will be named Mayor of his hometown. He will walk on rose pedals a la King Joffy Jofur of Zamunda each living day after and will only drink Perrier.

I'm sure I am joined by Klit-ites from all 4 corners when I say, "How dare you post such a hater-esque, anti-Klitschko thread!"

He's nearly a 2-1 underdog, you moron. The pressure is on Klitschko, the overwhelming favorite.

Since big VK is the two to one favorite, and he has been inactive for so long, and Peter is something like 28 and actively fighting..........

......what does that tell you about people's opinion of Vitali's performance, as compared to their opinion of Peter's performance?

And? What did you think I was referring to? :huh

IF you don't think there is hype regarding Vitaly, you're nuts.
