I wouldn't say ripe for the taking but he could be liable to a loss soon, I feel the same way about Pacquiao
Is Vitali ripe for the taking? Not in his next fight. But there's no stopping that clock from ticking...At 40 years old, Vitali was still able to beat a young hungry lion with one hand (Basically from the 4th rnd on). I remember after his win over Kevin Johnson, there was alot of speculation if Vitali should retire since he didn't score the KO. He went on to defeat Sosnowski, Briggs, Solis, Adamek and now Chisora. However age creeps up on us all (if we're lucky enough) He said he has no plans on breaking George Foreman's record for being the oldest HW Champ. I'm sure Vitali will know when it's time to hang em' up and reflect back on the fantastic career he had!
WIth the arm as it was yesterday, I venture to say Haye's speed and power would have made it a pick em fight. But with a healed arm/hand, he's still gonna be able to give anyone and everyone the Adamek/Arreola/Peter treatment.......if not the Kirk Johnson treatment. With an injury like he had yesterday, Haye may have been able to take him out. I admit that openly and honestly.
my god yes, all Chisora needed was a left hook Vit was standing WIDE open for it all night, Chiss just couldn't get off I guess I watched a different fight, what a ***** was to fight! imo he got humiliated BIG TIME
He has a "dream" to fulfill. 4 fights have eluded him thus far. 2 are no hopers, retired permanently, and the other 2 have considered his offers. Next month, Russian HW Nicolai Valuev is officially cleared from all rights by DKP. He is healthy after surgury and in need of $$$$ to start his political career in Russia. I fully expect Vitali to be ringing his phone after the 13th of March 2012. The other dream, David Haye, is gonna have to wait in line, and possibly win a comeback fight if he's gonna get the shot. Either that or take the mega payday which he considered an insult back in December.:yep
It reflected badly on both of them. Neither David or Wlad were willing to take risks. Haye talked more **** so there was mor onus on him, but Wlad didn't man up either given the provocation. Bad night for both.
If i was Vitali i'd knock it on the head now, enough is enough, not taking anything away from Chisora but Vitali looked an old man in there...:smoke
I see this comment being brought up a lot today, but who is capable of beating vitali? Chisora was underrated and did well, but that doesnt mena he didnt clearly lose and that would be the same for haye imo. Beside wlad there is nobody at heavy I would favour over this 40 year old man.
To be honest it's hard to say if he is or not. It's all about hindsight. Will it be like when Roy beat Tarver and looked older. Yeah he should have retired after that. Or will it be like when Holyfield lost to Bowe? Had he retired then, he would have missed the biggest fights of his career. It's tough to say really. In my opinion I didn't see anything that makes me think Haye, or anyone else, would beat Vitali. If Haye couldn't beat Wlad with pressure and a big punch I don't see him doing it to Vitali. Granted father time catches up to everyone. However, as long as people can claim moral victory and look impressive cause they won three rounds off you, it's not time to retire just yet. If Floyd drops three rounds to cotto, should he retire?
Yeah, that a pretty tough combo to be barking at an old man. Pretty awesome that a nearly 41 y/o HW is still able to dominate youngsters, even while suffering injury early in a fight. If this was 15 yrs ago, he'd have quit.:deal
No. The guy looked awesome in his last fight against Adamek, and had a hurt shoulder and still fended off Chisora with just his right hand. Say what you want about Chisora but he's a good boxer when he's in shape. Relentless pressure, decent skills, damn good chin, and Vitali still won a lopsided decision.
