Is Vitali the ATG number 1 heavyweight?

No, he is not the ATG #1 HW of all time. Just reading the thread title caused pain in certain parts of my brain. He's top 15 or so, I suppose.
I can think of 14 HW's with better resume's and with a good chance of defeating him.

 

Gonzalez legit put Bowe on his ass and Bowe annihilated him in the pros. Theres more to it than fear or whatever. We will never know.
Bowe vs Lewis was even. Actually Bowe was getting the better of Lewis in the first. That stoppage was odd.

 

Great fighter but maybe too easy to hit? I personally think he's lucky that the best fighter he ever faced was a small HW in Holyfield who didn't have big HW power. That trilogy is a perfect example of why size matters in boxing. Holyfield was struggling with Bowe's power and size but his skills and heart allowed him to compete.

He was immediately called shot after that when he got clobbered by Golota. Seems a bit convenient. Holyfield, the smaller guy with a heart desease, who took more punishment, went on to KO Tyson. Bowe never faced a great fighter with power.

 

Not really Thanosone. Lewis kept hitting him with the right hand . I'm not saying Bowe wasn't a terrific fighter on his night. He just didn't fancy it with Lewis.
