Just a thought............... Wouldnt things have turned out better for Abdusalamov if his corner had shown him some compassion instead of keep letting him go out again & again against Perez. Or even Gerald McClellan against Nigel Benn BOTH were obviously seriously hurt but were let to keep taking punishment

If a fighter says they've had enough, they've had enough.

Walters says he was hurt, and since I wasn't the one taking shots I didn't see coming, I'll take his word for it.

Am I disappointed? Yeah. Does that invalidate that I've seen him go to war and keep coming other times? Of course not. I'm not gonna sit here and pile on the guy. He got schooled and is taking enough heat from every angle as it is.

    He's not a coward, it's business.
He probably didn't want the fight in the first place so it was all agreed this is how it would go down.
People might think he's a coward but he lives to fight another day and prove himself. Besides, Lomachenko's performance is being praised and that was what the fight was all about.

Cowards don't get into the ring in the first place.

It sinply came down to "he quit"
This is not the same thing as been a coward. As has ben mentioned already, all night, even in his ringwalk he looked as though he just didnt want to be there. Ive come accross this numerous times, especially in the ams, if an opp has a good record or has fought 2 or 3 times more with a good win record then some fighters can really let this play on thete mind, they add pressure to thereselves, simply by there own mental perceptions, this can be a very hard state to work with and its hard to get it out of a figjters mind once its in.
I think this is what happened to walters, all it took then, was his own negstivity to add into the mix, telling himself things like, he isnt getting anywhere,he cant find his range, all these type of negative thoughts compounding the original perception he probably had about loma, thete then came a tipping point where he thought to himself, "whats the point".
Walters just aint got the mental strength to be a top fighter, he is what is known as a "cur"
I wonder how much ringside seats were? I would of been really p*ssed if id of saved for a ringside as a special occasion treat and then of been served that performance.

It was a pre-arranged tank job.

One thing I can tell you is Canelo is no quitter, FLoyd put a boxing clinic on him like lomanchenko did with Walters and Canelo stayed in there he didnt pull a ***** move and say it werent going well so I had to get out of there.

The only part of Walters that was hurt in this fight was his pride, those guys were physically hurt.

Why take the fight if you know your too rusty, if what your saying is true Walters must have known if things get rough he's not sticking around till the end. In which case he always planned to quit.

It's a mental thing. I doubt he's a coward. He was frustrated and couldn't find a way to land shots on Lomo. Frustration plays with your head. He basically said F@#$ it.

To those who say he didn't try and wasn't letting his hands go, when boxers don't throw it's usually because they are out of position or can't throw without getting countered. Give credit to the Lomo defense.

It wasn't cowardice. His fighting spirit had been exhausted and he felt humiliated by the ease in which Loma was dismantling him. At the end of the 7th Loma openly mocked him, which was clever psychology. Walters was embarrassed and just wanted it to be over.

But then what do you call that? He didn't even give himself a chance, he's really shot himself in the foot and in my opinion has committed career suicide all for a payday and not even a great one.

Canelo was getting outboxed by Mayweather in a similar fashion he still stuck around for his decision loss, at least pull a Salido and go balls to the wall but don't do what he did, how can fans respect someone who jumps ship at the first sign of adversity. Are you eager to see Walters back in the ring again after that?
