Is Ward getting over-rated for his win over AA?

Given the talk on various boxing forums, you would think Ward was the 2nd coming of Ali. Granted he's a very talented boxer with great skills and fundamentals. Problem is, was AA ever really all that great for Ward to be getting the praise he's currently receiving? AA fought a crap fight where he just stood there and shelled up for the majority of the fight. It was like fighting a statue. I'm assuming that most who are giving him an over abundance of credit are either patriotic American fans or boxing purists. Lets not forget that Carl Froch already beat AA and did so more impressively in my opinion.

Now I have nothing against Ward. I'm not particularly a fan of his bland style, but I do recognize that he is indeed talented. I just feel his win over AA is being blown way out of proportion.

Of course. The double standards just make this one funnier than Berto's case. After years of arguing Kessler is nothing but a B-level fighter with questionalble resume Ward suddenly becomes borderline P4P-er when he beats Mikkel in an extremely ugly fight, that after underperforming vs. Miranda compared to Abraham and Bute, underperforming vs. Green compared to ol'Glen, underperforming vs. Bika in a dirty dirty fight compared to Bute and underperforming vs. AA compared to Froch.

But again, when argument fits, Abraham, Kessler, Bika, Miranda and Green are great names to have on your resume. It just a question of who's resume they are on.

AA was when he ws champ. At the begining of the Super 6 he was the next coming of the peek-a-boo style after KOing JT! Now he's had a few losses and he's done. Typical of the fickle boxing fan and media!

If everyone thought Kessler was "nothing but a B-level fighter" then why was he the heavy betting favorite to win it all going into the Super Six?

You are regularly guilty of doing the same thing you are now accusing others of.

You see, this is a top post. 13000 odd posts and BigBone is still producing quality goods.
Lets remember that Kessler was an unwell double vision suffering fighter.
Abraham had suffered 2 very clear defeats recently and has said himself that he isnt a SMW. Also what are Abrahams big wins before the S6?
Bute beat Miranda and Bika more impressively than Ward, but that gets forgotten, and overall has a better resume than Ward.
Double standards no doubt, but the real amazing thing is how Ward has been having all of his fights at home whilst all of the original S6 members have been willing to travel. It doesnt look like Ward would have taken part in the competition if he didnt have the home advantage. Consider how Abraham and Froch will have had their last 3 fights away.

I'm yet to see anyone who is giving him any more praise after this fight then they did before it. So I don't see who is "over-rating" him.

Did AA look good in your eyes on Sat night? Did he even put up much of a fight?

I saw people claiming that Pac looked like crap although he completely shutout Mosley, yet a week later Ward gets a virtual shutout against Arthur "the statue" Abraham, and its considered a boxing masterpeice. :huh

I think he has earnt a bit of a big up but Abraham is damaged goods at that weight, you could say Froch was a better performance.
I think Froch and Ward final and a closer competive fight than the one we watched the other night.
