James "Titanium Chin" DeGale is an extremely rare talent, especially for a British fighter. He has an iron chin, is willing to travel, and has world class skills.. I've never seen a Brit with all of those attributes, he has the potential to become an ATG. However, Irish Ward is a class above DeGale. DeGale would give it a spirited effort, but in the end would lose to the better man. DeGale on the other hand has all the tools to take Bummyluvkin to school. I really don't understand why that fight isn't talked about more, it would be a great fight. That bout would truly showcase DeGale's skills.
According to DeGale's manager Ambrose Mendy, it was before DeGale signed with Haymon. DeGale only signed with Haymon in July this year.
Thats what I recall. I did watch it on youtube when Mendy spoke. I wonder what the truth is about wards next opponent on the other thread. I have a feeling that Ward wont be interested in fighting Kovalev until after Kovalev has maybe fought Beterbiev. Its all only a feeling but then that eliminates another undefeated fighter one way or the other and it could be gruelling for the winner and draining. Good time to step in after.
Ward wants no parts of DeGale. Ward has only fought against the same style, feasted on face first brawlers, ducked Andre Dirrell and Bute... the only time he faced someone slightly awkward with a punch he nearly got knocked cold.
Bute will finish DeGale. Then Groves vs DeGale in the summer 2016. Another boring fight. These two are like Cleverly and Bellew, not world class.
Do you think Cleverly was never world class or just not now? Consider many seem to fight Cleverlys victims in world title fights
Yes its an interview Ward did. Its on Youtube somewhere I will try and find it. He also said that they offered him Kessler again.
Ward wants no part of any fighter who has speed and skills. That's why he ducked Andre Dirrell, and then ducked Lucian Bute when the world was clamoring for a unification fight between the two unbeaten champions of the division. Now of course we have another fast, slick speed demon in the division (James DeGale), so Ward has to find yet another excuse not to fight. Moving up to LHW means he'll have to fight slow stalkers that he can easily outbox, like he did to Kessler and Froch. Ward is the smartest fighter in boxing. Before the Super Six even began, I predicted that Ward would retire undefeated.
