Is Ward gutless for not agreeing to a rematch?

Ward should just pay Kovalev off and do what we all know he will do - fight Beterbiev

 

Beterbiv is a even worst business case than Kovalev.
Who is Beterbiev? A nobody.
There is absolutely nothing to gain by Ward fighting a nobody like Beterbiev.

 

though I thought Ward lost I don't think it's gutless especially he fought say Stevenson next

though I believe if there's a clause he should honor

first fight was good and I feel if you take a belt like that there should be a rematch

What was ridiculous? I didn't hear the comments, but from what I have heard, he is trying to decide whether to retire, or give Kovalev the rematch. My only issue with how he is going about it, is that he is making Kovalev wait. ****ing retire and ride off into the sunset or give the man his rematch ASAP. It's contractually obligated if you are going to continue your career. Don't inhibit the other guys earning capacity by having him wait around.

 

It's been 3 months since the fight. If the rematch is going to happen the negotiations must begin in the next few weeks. If they don't have an agreement by end of March that's a bad sign

 

Just speculation on his part. Beterbiev has looked fairly destructive against the cans and washed up old men he has faced. The Barrera fight will tell us a bit more about Beterbiev.

Beterbiev's style is cryptonite for Ward, Beterbiev passes the eye test, that's the saying of all you Spence fans.

Beterbiev would go undefeated through Ward's resume apart from SK, which would be a toss up.

 

The fact he's crushing them is a lot more impressive than going the full distance with cans like Miranda, Green, etc or 9 rounds with Paul Smith.

It definitely looks more impressive when watching the fights, but it has no bearing on how the two would match up. Trinidad looked fairly devastating when he fought Joppy, while Hopkins mauled an older more shopworn Joppy for the full 12 rounds.

 

Barrera is with a guy now, who was under John David Jackson. It's likely why he destroyed Shabranskyy
