Is Ward/Kovalev by far the biggest fight to be made?

Oh I didn't realize this thread was proposing Ward and Kovalev to meet in the future Olympics. That must be my bad.

Who knows but I don't see this happening.

Ward would have to work for it and I don't see him laying damage on Kovalev. Kovalev is no mindless brute. I doubt Ward gains power when he eventually moves up to 175, either.

Not trolling....Ward is too good. His defence will prevent him from getting hit and his clever offence will out fox Kovalev...Sergey doesn't have the IQ or the boxing brain to trouble Ward at all. He'll need a hail Mary of a punch to do something....which I doubt will happen as Ward is too clever.

Stevenson vs Kovalez is bigger and BETTER.

Then, Beterbiev vs Kovalev is also bigger ATM

Let's see how Ward looks against a solid B level fighter coming to win rather than vs a shopworn B level fighter coming for a paycheck in Smith(though to his credit, he did give Abe a go).

I'd like to see Ward vs Bute or Brahmer at 175.
Then vs a SOLID R hander like Fonfara or Vlasov.

If he could rack up wins in those 3 fights, I'd tip him to beat Stevenson 80/20 and would say the Kovalev fight would be 60/40 Ward based off his wins over Kessler and Froch.:think

Did I just type that I believe Ward would be the favorite vs Kovalev if he made just 3 fights over 172lbs, Smith, Bute, and Vlasov.:huh:huh:huh

Kovalev will ice Ward if it ever happens. He is a solid boxer with incredible power. The 'headbut and hold' approach just won't work. I hope to see it but strongly doubt Ward has the stomach for it. Afterall, it would mean leaving Oakland and California.

Many fights destroy this fight both on paper and in general public interest. Ward is hardly known/remembered after his long hiatus.

Right now Cotto-Canelo is the biggest, followed by (in no order)

    Wlad-Fury/Wilder
    Kova-Stevenson
    Ward-GGG
    GGG-Cotto/Canelo winner
    Mayweather-GGG
    May-Pac 2

Dunno how people see Mayweather/Golovkin as a big fight. There are literally 10 names that could make a fight with Mayweather bigger than one with Golovkin

I remember when Hopkins tried to clinch Kov, he pushed him and immidiately landed left hook on Hopkins temple, so Ward's "veteran tactics" wont work.

Kovalev is a good boxer himself, so anybody, who says that Ward would "school" him is just an idiot. Especially if you know, that Sergey would be his toughest test...

Hopkins and Ward are similar....maybe when Ward was a teenager. Ward is levels above Hopkins, and that is nothing against Hopkins, a true master of the craft and still a tough opponent for any dude at 175. Kovalev did very well, but Ward is levels above Hopkins

Who the hell would watch may-pac 2? The first one was a snooze fest. I honestly felt pacman was paid off to lose that fight. That match was rigged.

I would like to see triple g fight cotto and then mayweather.

Stevenson vs Kovalev and Beterbiev vs Kovalev would be better fights at 175. Though Ward vs Kovalev might be top 3 in the fights to be made at light heavyweight.

A fight with Ward will never be "the best fight", it will always be boring, same Problem like Mayweather.. always boring to see those guys running all night Long!
