They are going up against FOUR current or former champions. Only someone like prime RJJ could beat three ACTIVE champions on their way to winning this tournament.

Abraham, Kessler and Froch are all reigning champs with Arthur vacating to step up to 168.

Taylor has no chance to win the tournament, but he was undisputed at one point, so let's respect that he DID win a title.

So has Dirrell or Ward shown you enough to say they are the second coming of RJJ/B-Hop?

you threw bhop in there at the end...and aside from the fact that rjj and bhop are polar opposites in the way they go about their business in the ring...

    1. the lord broke the mold on rjj. he was as close to unbeatable there for a while as any fighter i have ever seen or heard about. so no on rjj

    2. bhop is one of the cagiest *******s to come along in a long time. i don't see anyone, ward or dirrell included, duplicating what bhop does in the ring out of today's fighters

You're right...thing is, I mean, is Ward or Dirrell an ATG? Because that's what its going to take to dispose of THREE champions back-to-back.

NO ... these guys get hit too much ... they don't know how to break their opponents down yet and they can't overwhelm their opponents with speed and combos ... I remember seeing Roy beat some guy down against the ropes and every punched followed that guys every movement ... he ducked into punches ... the fight got stopped ... someone should post that if you know what i'm talking about.

Ward reminds me of a later day RJJ, not the prime one, he is more defensively minded that young and prime Roy.

Dirrell is no Roy Jones, but he can overwhelm his opponent with his hand speed. He did that against Hanshaw and Oganov.

Are you kidding me?? Not even close is the verdict for both of these guys.

They are simply inexperienced green prospects who are in deep and will be underdogs in this tourney, and find themselves in this position thanks to the money thrown at them by Showtime.

both don't have the punch RJJ had and neither have as good of a defense, specially Dirrell. They will be lucky if they don't both loose their first fight.

Ward is going to be imo the next Roy Jones or something close to it ..He's a slick fighter with good hand speed, solid chin, extrimely athletic not like Jones but some flashes of him there ..I m picking him to win the tourney for sure ..

Only time will tell ..If anyone resembles Hopkins Id say the Cobra ..He just needs to tighten up the defense ..He has the makings of a crafty dangerous technician just like Bhop is ..Dirrell im not sure I personally haven't seen enough to make that assesment ..

How does a fundamentally terrible slugger have the makings of B-Hop?
