Nobody said on this thread that Bute would beat Ward. You seem to be a nuthugger: Ward beat one single A level boxer and that's Kessler. The rest of his super six is made of one B fighter (Bika) and one C fighter (Green).
How could you make him top 3 P4P if he wins the S6 atsch? His fights would be as follows. One good win over a good but already beaten fighter suffering double vision. A win over already exposed A Green who lost his next bout after by KO, to a 14 losses 2 draws fighter. Bika another exposed fighter And either Froch/Johnson. Froch would be a fair win but if Johnson beats Froch, it would show Froch to not be that good and a win over Johnson who has just as many losses as he does wins at SMW, and whos biggest SMW victory is at this time A Green at SMW would be a joke and highlight how weak the division has become in the last few years.
LOL!! That in itself is about 1000% more than the cuddled and hyped Bute has accomplished. The ain;t even on the same level.
Are you talking on resume or H2H?! The only shining star on Ward's resume is Kessler... he looked plain dumb for his standards against Bika, wasn't able to rock Miranda/Green hard enough to do major damage which showed a surprisingly average punching power for a guy his size, and... and... no, that's it. Wait... yeah ok no, that's it. Kessler. That's.. it. Used a great deal of variations to outrageously dominate the then considered king of 168, landed on Kessler efficiently & accurately spicing the dish with a couple of peppery headbutts who sent the Dane to long term recovery. He did good. "Good & dirty in Oakland" was the name of the episode. The ref should have picked up on the headbutts but didn't. Oh well. A star on the rise like Ward can't fight all his career in Oakland now can he?!? Nah. He's going to Vegas. Thousands in attendance... thousands more than what was once possible under his home turf. Couple of points... couple less for him on the cards this time, as the judging will be under great scrutiny given the circumstances. The S6 final begins with Froch in the other corner. If your boy gets passed a very tough, awkward and durable warrior like Froch, he's in for an entirely different rough night against a world class KO capable southpaw in Bute. Ward may be becoming the real deal, he's currently at the top of my SMW top 10 list (!!) only because of the way he found all the angles against Kessler, but has yet to face the real challenges. Only then will he truly have an opportunity to become the real deal. Currently I have 1. Ward 2.A Bute 2.B Froch (I can't live with Froch #3, it's too close in an equal combination of resume & H2H)... but I see a good case for Ward UD Froch, and Bute TKO 8 Ward to happen in the next year or so, which would give a fair 1. Bute 2. Ward 3. Froch.
OK, you just don't know what you're talking about. Take the year 2011 to learn a bit, that will free the forum from one troll. If I blend bute and Ward's best wins, that makes: 1) Kessler (Ward) 2) Andrade (Bute) 3) Andrade (Bute) 4) Bika (both fighters, Bute looking better) 5) Miranda (both fighters, Bute knocking him in 3) 6) Brinkley (Bute) 7 Green (Ward 8) Zuniga, Berrio (Bute) ...
That being said, Ward may be the real deal. I just hope he comes with his old fighting style back. The way he fought Green and Bika didn't make him look good. I liked very much the way he fought Miranda, even if I had noticed at the time he wasn't able to knock him out. That's his biggest flaw. The way he insists to be the man and fight with his opponent style is his second biggest flaw.
Not hating on either but comparing resumes doesnt do either of them justice, both paper thin to date. It remains to be seen who is the real deal but my feeling is that Ward could be it and Bute is possibly nothing more than a Canadian hypejob:smoke
In fairness it does seem that Butes resume is OVERALL a bit stronger than Wards, even though Bute hasnt beaten anyone of real note or prime. Joppy was past his best when Bute beat him also, though the Zuniga win looks a bit better than before now that Zuniga has taken Cloud the distance in an IBF LHW title fight
Their resume are not thin, but not enough to be called the real deal. Future will tell us. Bute is not a Canadian hype job and you will se it soon. :smoke
Good point about Zuniga you're right this does make it better however we still dont know what Cloud is yet to be fair. When I think of Bute the scrape with Andrade is one thing that doesnt sit well with me though. I cant help thinking he is there for the taking when he meets a prime world class fighter. It pains me to say it because his style repulses me and his hometown only attitute really pisses me off but I get the feeling he is gonna be extremely difficult to beat.:deal
I hope you're right I do like him and find him entertaining to watch he is clearly a talented fighter. Im just not convinced hes THAT good.
He's even better than THAT good. He's not the best in any department but one of the few best in each of them. If he loses, well, that's boxing and that won't be my first wrong prediction! I want him to face the best, win or lose.
At this point, I am not at all sold on Ward. Based on what I've seen in this "super 6" tournament, I'd peg Froch to beat him in the final.
