I think he has more options than that.

His best bet would be to secure a Mayweather fight as that would bring in the most money, by a wide margin.

Next, would be a rematch with Chavez.

If not that, a Cotto fight would probably bring in good money.

After that, GGG or Ward; however, Ward expressed that he's not interested. Martinez the same.

As people have already said, it's both. I really don't see how Martinez could beat Ward, and it'd be silly to take such a risk for a fight that wouldn't even deliver that much of a payday - it wouldn't even be on PPV.

Also, gotta love freddy. The amount of butthurt he has shown since Martinez-Chavez is hilarious. Now freddy is just trying to denigrate Martinez' skills and paint him as some sort of bully for wanting to beat Jr again. :rofl:rofl:|:|

Ward is P4P the best fighter above 154 (or 151) so I would say he is to skilled. if they were the exact same size I would give the edge to ward. I do not buy that he is a small MW, he has grown into the division. But I do think he is to small for the top SMW right now (if he had a different style maybe but not with his style)

Ward has more muscle on his body. He would have to cut muscle to go down to even 164.

Ward probably walks around at 185 when he is not in training. The guy is slender at 168 already.

Note-I am one who thought Chad would not make 168. Surprised when he did but he wasn't the same fighter. Still take 0 away from Ward as he beats Chad at 175 as well, IMO.

This is exactly my point, Sergio is wasting his time if he thinks Floyd or Cotto will face him...maybe just maybe Cotto gives him a shot if Miguel defeats Trout, but I do not see Cotto agreeing to a catch weight and I'm sure Sergio would want one, but there's absolutely no chance of Floyd fight him none!

So other than a Chavez rematch in which he will be in limbo waiting for who the hell else is he gonna get all this mystery money fighting, baring he somehow seduces Golden boy into letting him fight Ginger...not to mention Martinez is not a draw himself, if he could sell his own ticket he would be fight the best available and not begging to fight smaller men...

Because he's intelligent enough not to drain and weaken himself to fight someone who wouldn't bring in any money...

Do people understand the jump between middleweight and super middleweight? The only fighter who would not look drastically undersized against genuine 168lbers is Chavez.

at 160 Maravilla would beat that ass.

and if they fought at a catch weight, i would make serious money off the heavy underdog Martinez would be. Ward just needs to fight someone that can time him correctly coming in and Martinez can do that. I actually thought Dawson had a good chance of timing Ward but you cant land any punches if you don't throw any.

Ward is too big, too strong, and too skilled for sergio unfortunately. He will kill him on the inside.

Too big. If they were the same size Sergio would prevail, or lose in a robbery in JOakland.

"Sexy" is a career 154 pound fighter! He's been calling out Floyd... You know the guy that just won a belt @ 154! So If Sergio could still make 154.. What the hell is the problem?

Sergio is a small MW... He can't make SMW, So he can't fight Andre Ward.

yeah.... Martinez is prob best-suited at 154.... to think to have him fighting at 168... yeah, thats ridiculous and Ward knows that too
