I want this match to be competitive and really stir things up in the Super 6. But my feeling is, based on competition and experience, that Ward is going to school Green painfully, maybe even stop him late. Anyone think this could be either an upset or at least a competitive surprise?
I think your right mate. Pressure will all be on Green after inheriting Taylors record and Ward can just sit back and pick him apart. Wish I was wrong but can't see it myself.
I really dont know, I think the fight will have plenty of action and Green is not planning on loosing but all he has is the left hook, once thats gone... My other worry is that Ward may be too wary of Greens power until late, making for a slightly boring fight with Green swinging and missing and Ward landing in flurries. But im still hoping for a war and a Green KO lol.
I'll be in the minority on this I'm sure, but Green is going to show up for this. I suspect this will be closer than many think, and Ward takes a closer than expected decision.
I think it could be a let down in the sense that it won't be a particularly pretty fight to watch. Green can be tentative and Ward implements a lot of rough, ugly, spoiling tactics. Still I got the damndest feeling that Ward will be shocked by Green's combination of speed and power. I'm calling the upset special... Green by stoppage in sudden fashion after a few nondescript rounds. :bbb
That would be sick. The whole division would be turned upside down. I like Green. On Showtime's Fightcamp #6 he came across like a smart, decent guy, with a good sense of humor. You never got that from his post-fight interviews. It's just that the Kessler fight showed that, headbutts and dirty tactics or not, Ward is a resourceful fighter who can completely nullify an opponent's offense. I'll be pulling for Green though.
I think that Ward wins but outside of Kessler what great fighters has Ward faced? Miranda was shot when he beat him. (after Pavlik and Abraham smashed his face in.) The Miranda that fought Green was a much better fighter.
Maybe so. Ward's amateur experience can't be ignored though. And Green really hasn't looked good in years. A loss would certainly bring Ward's ego back down to earth though.
Why is Sweetness being dismissed? He's a legit threat and he'll be a good measure of how for real Ward is for the SMW division. One thing, I would be interested to see if Ward is going to use his head in the ring, or literally, use his head against Green. I want to believe that billy goat bull**** was unintentional, but he'll convince me otherwise if it shows up again while Green's checking his shoes.
I agree and I'm probably one of the very few that thinks we could be in for an upset that practically no one saw coming...
I like those kinds of upsets. Boxing is sometimes unpredictable. If Green wins against Ward, Ocelot is right, the division becomes all messed up and the tournament completely open. I just can't see it though.
Can you just imagine the possibilities before the 3rd round : Dirrell (2pts) vs Ward (2pts) Abraham (3pts) vs Froch (2pts) Green (2pts) vs Kessler (2pts) That kind of a scenario would certainly garner even more interest.
I been thinking Ward by stoppage by way of well timed left hook for some time now but have been flaking back and forth in recent days. I admire your boldness. Perhaps when I find my balls I might just throw them out on the limb and go with my initial inclination.
