I've had him at #2 for a while behind Mayweather. I'm consedering moving him up to #1 based on what I saw tonight.

He's number one. No one has a better record over the last few years.

That still doesn't take away the fact that Manny didn't look great in that fight. Manny hasn't looked great since Cotto. Also look at his competition as of late. Besides Bradley, who has Manny fought? Don't mention Marquez because most people thought Manny would beat his ass. I thought Manny would as well since Marquez was moving up again.

I think Ward cleaning out a division puts him over Manny and possibly Floyd. I don't believe Floyd nor Manny has cleaned out a division in their entire careers. What Ward is doing right now is amazing.

  8. stfu and name any fighter(besides floyd and manny) who is more deserving. certainly not punk ass Martinez.

I think Ward should be rated as the best fighter in the world. His competition the last few years is some of, if not the best in boxing and he's won most of those fights in dominating fashion. His total package of competition, domination, skill-set, age, experience, etc is as good as anyone.

I don't have a problem with having Mayweather and/or Pac ahead of him. I just think that both those guys are past their peaks and their competition and/or the manner they've been winning the last few years hasn't been as deep as Ward's.

"looking good" isn't the be all and end all when proving how good you are. In fact, in some instances, it can be irrelevant. Like Pac-Bradley. As mentioned, Bradley doesn't make anyone "look" good. Just like Hopkins doesn't either - including when he fought Dawson earlier on this year. Nobody factors that in to dispel/downplay Dawson's clear and comprehensive victory, do they.

And I disagree about him not looking great since Cotto. He had two back-to-back dominating performances straight after that - Clottey and Marg. It's only the Mosley and JMM fights where he's disappointed majorly. The former in which he still dominated every single minute of every round.

So, essentially, it could be argued that Manny has only ****ed up once - JMM. It's only by his high standards that you can criticise his other fights. Because he still dominated and won all of them - Clottey, Marg, Bradley and Mosley.

As brilliant as Ward has been in "cleaning out his division", the guys Floyd and Pac have been facing have still been superior than the ones Ward has. I've said it many times, that 168 division gets overrated way too easily. Kessler, Bika, Abraham and Froch, are a less fearsome/talented bunch than the likes of Mosley, Cotto, Marg, Bradley, etc. So "cleaning out a division" is all well and good, but it doesn't mean as much if that actual division isn't as good as the division(s)/oppoenents the other top P4P guys have been dealing with.

I think an argument can be made for him being number 1, but I try to avoid knee jerk reactions after wins like this. I'll keep PBF up there for the meantime on account of him being 1 or 2 for such a long time. I do believe Ward can be placed ahead of Pac now though. Manny for ferocious for a few years but he's not been the same recently. He's still one of the elites in boxing, but not in the top 2 right now

Wlad still has the #4 spot on lock down

because they need floyd at #1 who was not as impressive as ward againt dawson in his last fight. but if ward did it while moving up or at least at a catchweight, he could have been credited more.
