You're only as good as your last fight, but if a pound for pound list was based purely on the last fight there'd be no consistency at all. Guys like Froch and Garcia would be ranked a bit higher than they deserve, and Pacquaio would be too low

    Exactly.

Then of course Donaire is fighting next month, too. A devestating/impressive knockout from him, and we'll all be re-shuffling our P4P positions once again.

    Fickle.

#4 behind Mayweather, Martinez and Marquez

Whilst no one can Ignore hes at the top of the division right now he refused to take the challenge to move up to 175 and chose to bring his opponent down in weight and although Chad was rated number 1 lets not forget he was only there after beating a 47 year old man in Hopkins and had lost previously to Jean Pascal.

Can't say that after this fight. Maybe later.

Dawson clearly was not there at 168.

All three of his fights were against guys looking to survive. Bar Wilfredo Jr, of course - who actually tried to win and took a hell of a lot of punishment for it, too.

It doesn't matter if you look good when it comes to resume/legacy. We are talking about the P4P list which has a "what have you done for me lately" appeal to it.

Who is Clottey? That fight shouldn't have happened anyway. Clottey was ranked in the division but come on now, he should have fought Shane Mosley. I don't even know why the Marg fight happened. Marg wasn't ranked at all in the division. Thiose fights were irrelevant. That is why a lot of writers were rating Floyd over Manny back then after he beat Mosley.

They have not faced superior fighters lately. Over the last few years, Ward has fought better competition than both. Mosley and Marg were shot when Manny fought them. How can you say that Wards win vs Froch isn't better than Manny's win against Mosley. The 168 division is a great division. People really undervalue the importance of a fighter cleaning out their division.

If Donaire had the ring IQ he's believed to have he could have got them out. Looking th blast your opponent away with one big punch and trying to walk down your opponent with your hands by your side while eating punches isn't impressive.
Yes he's a really good fighter and I held to a very high esteem before. Even said he could be an atg with all the good fighters around his division that he can beat. But he's been disappointing.

He's pretty good. But Dawson hasn't beaten anyone other than an ancient Bernard Hopkins and old Tarver. He has better wins than Dawson.

Ward did dominate but chad didn't seem right at the weight I honestly belIeve he was feeling the affects of stripping w8. Just the way it appeared.

    :huh

Resume/legacy is determined by the same/similar criteria for current subjective P4P listings (which is not all about "what have you done for me lately). If "looking good" -- something which is not always possible due to the type of opponents you'll face -- doesn't matter for resume/legacy, then it really shouldn't for P4P listings; which is all about getting that clear, undisputed 'W' over decent opposition.

Clottey is the guy who arguably beat Cotto and gave a prime Margarito a hell of a fight. Don't let his style or his display against Pacquiao fool you into thinking he's a nobody. He's at least on the same level as Abraham, and easily better than Bika and Green. And come on, man - rankings ? We all know they don't mean **** nowadays. We don't need rankings to tell us how good someone is. Marg, despite not being "ranked" was still a formiddable opponent. As evident by him being damaged goods, having one eye and still giving Cotto -- who'd later be regarded as the reinvigorated, number one guy at 154 -- a run for his money.

Not Mosley, but Cotto and Bradley are better fighters than Froch. They were and are higher ranked P4P at the time, too. Marg I've already explained (past his best, but not "shot"). So too I have Clottey.

168 is not a "great" division. How can it be when the nearest rival to Ward is just a Carl Froch. It's loaded in depth with good fighters that are evenly matched between themselves (excluding Ward) - which makes it a competitive division, but not a "great" one. It's just been hyped up and given extra attention because of the Super Six tournament.

and i like ward but right now i say top 3-5.

imo, he would have gotten more credit if defeated dawson at 175.
