A fighters resume is determined by rankings along with beating top competition. P4P ranking change all the time based on what a fighter has previously done. For example, many people had Nonito in their top 3 until recently because of how he has performed. Ward has been fighting legit competition for years. I don't care about Clottey looking great while losing. The point is that he lost and Manny shouldn't have fought him at the time. I agree about the rankings but tell me how Marg deserved that fight? Forget about what happened in the Cotto fight because that wasn't even relevant when he fought Manny. Marg came off of getting KTFO and fighting a cab driver yet he gets a fight with the best in the world? Marg was irrelevant at the time. So beating two fighters is better than beating legit competition in a tournament for years along with beating the best light heavyweight? Come on now. A division loaded with good fighters make it a damn good division. There aren't many divisions in boxing that are better.
no.irrelevan fight.Dawson looked bad at 168.had this fight been at a catchweight yeah, why not.but Sven Warddke doesn't take chances,he made the same mistake with Bute.he'll never achieve greatness.
Dawson would get knocked out even quicker at a higher weight where Ward would have even more leverage and power. Ward knocked him out with short punches which took advantage of his shorter frame.
good thing he doesn't get a klitschko to drain to 168 and come to jOaklnad or he'll be kicking floyd out of #1 from your list:rofl
I'd probably say it more of a matter of him inheriting his position by atrician but he has got to be quite high on anyones list. I still think manny and Floyd are 1 and two. But manny just lost and is clearly not the same fighter he used to be. So I can see how some may think he's below ward. But IMO he wasn't in shape for Bradley and still easily handled him. **** what the judges said. Jmm was a better fighter in his day but is probably too old and a little past his best to be ahead of ward at this point in his career. But it's close. Sergio martinez is where it gets interesting. They both have similar quality of resumes. So basically differentiating them is a straight pick based on talent. I go with ward. My list goes like this: Floyd Manny Ward Martinez Jmm
Why? For beating a severely drained opponent? The kneejerk reaction in ESB is ****ingly stupid. Same posters.
I hope you *****s don't think Frida is number 1? That mother ****er fights once a year and I think Cotto earned a draw with him!
Howmuch did floyd make Cotto drain down for that fight again? Oh wait he gave him all the advantages he wanted.... It seems like you 1) can't judge a fight. And 2) you have a selective memory.
Voted No because he is my #1, based on his resume, who he's beaten, and how he's beaten them. He's the best fighter in the world, right now.
PAC did lose to Bradley, and if we are now just ignoring the real outcomes of fights, then you can have the imaginary Bradley win but I'm taking my imaginary JMM win...either way, Manny doesn't deserve to be above Ward as it stands today.
