Ward is a strong argument for #1... Nobody should be mentioning Pac after the Marquez and Bradley fights, Pac should be around #5 if you're being rational.

I don't think Mayweather automatically deserves the top spot. His relative inactivity could go against him, and if you want to say about Pacquaio not looking good in his last fights and hold that against him, I think you have to mention Mayweather not looking all that good against Cotto (who wasn't in the top 10 P4P rankings, unlike Bradley and Dawson). Who looked more impressive in their last fight? Ward. Who is the best fighter in the world? Its hard to say, I can see why people make a point for Ward anywhere from 1-3. Personally I probably have him at #3, just behind Pacquaio and Mayweather who I can't really split (i.e. both at number 2). The only things against Ward are the fact that he always fights in his hometown and beat Dawson at a lower weight (props to both for making the fight happen, need more of these fights in boxing). Easy to say afterwards I know but Dawson looks to have been a little weakened at the weight and perhaps has been over-rated - recent record beaten by Pascal and beat a 46yr old Bernard Hopkins by MD. Martinez is probably relegated to 4th unless he can put on a clinic on JCC Jr or knock him out impressively, he might still only be 4th.

The gap has narrowed at the top, no longer just Mayweather and Pacquaio at the top and then everyone else battling it out for #3 spot down

Floyd has fought twice in the past 12 months against a WW champion and a JMW champion? Hardly inactive for a guy his age.

i had him at number 2 before the fight, due to the ease he has beaten top level opponents with

That's why I said relative inactivity. He didn't fight for 16 months before Ortiz (who subsequently got beaten by unheralded Joseito Lopez). Cotto was arguably past his best since Margarito and Pacquaio loses and gave Mayweather trouble.

Ok, so I may be exaggarating here/playing Devil's advocate there. Mayweather probably is P4P #1 (or at least joint #1). I just think he doesn't have a God-given right to the top spot, as the original poster seemed to indicate that he had. I don't think Mayweather should be above analysing in the P4P rankings, that is my main point I guess.

I don't think ortiz losing his next fight proves to much as he clearly beat a solid WW berto to earn that match with mayweather. Ortiz going on to lose his next fight could well be a confidence thing. He seems like and up and down fighter, can lose against maidana then come back to have a draw against the likes of Peterson. Then put in an amazing performance against Berto.

You stating cotto was arguably past his best, this maybe true, but mayweather fought him at his best weight. Dawson was arguably weight drained at 168 and Ward did not fight him at his best weight. I don't think Dawson made 168 for 6 years.

Anyway with all that said for me floyd is fighting at 147 and 154 currently. 2 weight classes against Champions. Ward at the moment is only fighting in one. He needs to make the move to another division and put more on the line. When he does that he will eventually take that p4p number 1 spot.

Im going to stick up for Mayweather Pac and Marquez here.

All fought Future Hall of Famers and Won or even Lost but they were ****ing Quality guys and all 3 have traveled and have been doing it for Years all of a sudden Ward wins at home a few times against decent opponents but not Hall of Fame material now you want me to believe Ward is either 1 or 2.

    **** Off.

If you really want a comparison Wlad Klitsschko been doing for twice the amount of time Ward has but even Wlad has Traveled.

So Wlad has more a case at being higher than ****ing Andre Ward.

The problem is not Wards fault fighting Froch and Dawson and Kessler is not exactly like fighting Cotto, Mosley, Marquez.

I give Ward props for his Boxing skill but go Compare his ****ing Resume to Wlads and he is getting way to much Love in here.

    Just my Opinion

He's No 1 imo and I'm not a fan. Floyd's inactivity and blatant cherry-picking should rule him out.
