atsch Last night was not boring, well maybe for you since you are a Froch fan so i can understand why it was long night for you, last night we have seen that Ward is better in every aspect of boxing, easy win!
The excessive pushing into the ropes is technically illegal, but you won't see a ref like Smoger call that. Leading with the head and putting your head in someone's chest isn't illegal. Head-butting is illegal, but there really wasn't much of that last night. So no his "style" isn't illegal, it's very clever, as is Hops and Money May. They all do borderline illegal things that confuse and frustrate the opponent. You can see Froch at some points trying to fight back in a similar way but couldn't do it, and resorted to hitting after the bell.
Yes its perfectly legal. He gets in on the inside with his feet. He stays inside with his feet. How any of you can complain about a fighter who presses the action and fights on the inside is beyond me. I guess you guys would rather watch Khan who runs for dear life and pushes/fouls constantly because he doestnt like to fight? Ward is a fighter who likes to fight. And he has skills on top of that. What the **** is wrong with all of you?
He does not fight like Mayweather. You have to beg pretty boy to press the action (and I am not talking about how pretty boy used to fight back in mid 90's when he first started), where Ward prefers to press the action. Watch mayweater/Judah again and notice Roger begging floyd to walk zab down. And I am a huge mayweather fan btw.
Froch did that after Ward hit him in the nuts! Open your eyes. But last night at times reminded me of fights from the 40's like Zale v Cerdan, against the ropes with one pinning the other. So it was nothing new. And mostly legal to my surprise. Froch waited til the 12th to do his own rough house though.
Well, it's not really his style. That was a rubric on how to beat Froch. Although he leads with his evasive head at least once in most all of his fights, his doesn't always pursue and tie up as much. It's as legal as the ref will allow it to be and he can adapt to the instructions. :yep Last night was a very clean fight, he only intentionally butted once, and only charged with his head intentionally once that I could see, and both times he didn't connect. I was rooting for Ward but I took exception to when Froch pushed him to the ropes, leading with his chest, after faring very well in an exchange and Smoger separated them and asked if Froch was alright to continue. Froch was getting a little out of the rope exchanges, and he wasn't allowed to set up his own go of it on his terms. Ward can fight technically on the outside and damn well and fast, as he was demonstrating earlier with his body jabs, how else do you think he won the gold, but he prefers to muscle, even bully, his opposition, and frustrate them with excellent head movement; (Froch did a good job of explaining how Ward won fair and square after the fight) especially ones with a four inch reach advantage. Froch needed to strafe out of every lead and throw some wildcards into the pace. I think he would have done a lot better with his corner's advice for the last two rounds for the middle four. I think Ward's very intelligent, and that Froch had difficulty for the reasons he said, and Ward has a range of game plans for different fighters. He's not going to have the same success with the same strategy against someone who can chut dangerously and faster inside, so he'll try to work in something with more ranged striking, and only being that aggressive when advantage permits.
No he doesn't, he fights like Bhop. Mayweather uses the shoulder roll, shell etc and pot shots from outside. Ward comes in, and unlike mayweather is quite hittable. Ask Bika and Froch got to him, look at Ward's face after the fight to know that. The Mayweather comparisons are off. Bhop is more the closer match.
He did not start leaning and rushing in with his head until the last few rounds, which is completly illegal. The inside fighting he was doing in the first half of the fight is legal. When he gets tired or feels threatened maybe he starts ramming his head, ala Hopkins, which he should get points off for.
