you'll be surprised to know how many super fights were done with a catch weight.

    got this somewhere:

Sugar Ray Leonard vs Donny Lalonde (168 catchweight)
Julio Cesar Chavez vs Pernell Whitaker (145 catch-weight for W.W title)
Jimmy McLarnin vs Pancho Villa (114 catchweight but McLarnin came in overweight at 122)
Joe Gans vs Joe Walcott (138 pound catchweight)
Henry Maske vs Virgin Hill (190 catchweight)
Bernard Hopkins vs Oscar De La hoya (158 catchweight)
Jose Luis Castillo vs Diego Corrales (both fighters agreed to make 135 but no one can weigh more than 147 on fight night)
Fernando Vargas vs Ricardo Mayorga (162 catchweight)
Roy Jones Jr. vs Felix Trinidad (170 catchweight)
Miguel Cotto vs Manny Pacquiao (145 catchweight)
Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Juan Manuel Marquez (144 catchweight, Mayweather came in overwheight at 146)
Paulie Ayala vs Johnny Tapia (124 catchweight)
Terry Norris vs Meldrick Taylor (150 1/2 catchweight)
Henry Armstrong vs Law Jenkis (140 catchweight, for a Welterweight Bout)
Emile Griffith vs Dave Charnley (148 catchweight)

Interesting out of all these catchweight floyd was the only one who sucker punches his opponents by presenting a catch weight to his opponent and never really intending to honor the catchweight. If pac is the catchweight king, then floyd is the suckerpunch king ie gatti, marquez, ortiz.

Manny Steward even says Cotto in his best shape is about 150 pounds. He's a welterweight fighting at 154. Cowardice? Please.

I personally think both Pac and mayweather should be wanting to fight Martinez. It is a very winnable fight and legacy wise it would do more to both fighters than any other fight out there bar each other. As it is I'm happy with Mayweather / Cotto and if Pac isn't willing to move up I would like to see the JMM rematch but would be happy if a fight with Bradley materialises. I guess I'm not as picky as most on here.

This is what I'm speaking about. If Manny knows he won't be going above 147 again then he should stick to discussing fights with other WW's. Don't go persuing fights with JrMW's and say:

    Pac: "Lets fight."
    JrMW: "OK"
Pac: "You gotta come down to the WW limit first."
    JrMW: "What?"

Its one thing if you have a fighter like Martinez offering to come down in weight to make a fight happen. Then by all means discuss and see if a fight is doable. But don't go after the big dogs and then say "to fight me you have to come down in weight." And the fact that its a fighter he already demolished, it just seemed like a cowardly act to me.
