Ortiz is old, he might pass away by March 3rd. I wonder if Wilder's plan all along was to fight Ortiz's corpse rather than Ortiz, he's been fighting corpse's his whole career!

So this logic clearly applies to Loma’s win vs Rigogondeaux right?

Plus you all claim Wilder is ducking this man. Now it’s a cherry pick. Go figure.

Everyone was saying that Ortiz is the most avoided fighter in HW and nobody wants to fights him. But when Wilder decides to fight him he is suddenly too old.

Ortiz has been avoided no doubt. That doesn't mean Wilder doesn't think the time is right to bag him now and still get a decent amount of credit for it.

Has he slipped a little in the last few years? Almost certainly. Will Wilder still deserve plenty of credit should he take him out? I very much think so. He's still a top 5 heavy in my book and Wilder has never beaten one of those yet.

Ortiz was built up as a boogie man ever since the Jennings fight, everyone was ducking him despite Ustinov agreeing to fight him, only for Ortiz to duck out. Then Joshua and Hearn said they'd take him on after Pulev, so Ortiz jumps ship from Hearn, signs up with Haymon to fight Wilder. Ortiz avoids that by taking blood pressure meds only for Wilder to say he doesn't care and will kick his ass anyway.

Ortiz was never the fighter he was built up to be, Jennings looked good against a faded Wlad, had the perfect style for Ortiz to look good. Then of course Ortiz looked ordinary when he fought Scott and Allen.

I knew it would only be a matter of time. Before the fight was signed Wilder will duck Ortiz when it was signed and Ortiz failed a drug test it was Wilder paid off the commission and is ducking Ortiz. Now the fight is not far away and you have ****bois like the thread starter calling Ortiz old and discrediting the fight, never mind under various alts or maybe even under this same username he accused Wilder of ducking Ortiz. POS posters like you have no shame.

Wilder shouldn't have avoided him three or four years ago when he was still good.

Ortiz (says he's 38, but is probably really 48) is older than Rigo (37).
Wilder avoided him in the past. But Ortiz is older now, and has looked faded in more recent fights against Scott and Allen, and was inactive for a full year.

Wilder should be putting his affairs in order in his case his estate is left in limbo.

Ortiz is just a shadow of what he used to be. He has aged so fast.

Its like Lewis vs Tyson situation. Lewis never fought prime Tyson, he just waited Mike to become old and past prime.

 White people acting like they followed a spanish boxer early in his career.

Four or five years ago is when the english press just started to write about Ortiz. Y'all didn't give a **** about Luis back when he was fighting guys like Juan Carlos, but yeah Wilder should have known that nobody from the caribbean would get so popular so fast based on him cheating to beat CW Lateef ****in' Kayode.

I've followed the careers of all promising heavyweight prospects for a long time.

They were trying to get a fight with Wilder way back in 2014-2015, but Wilder's management was protecting him. I was disappointed when Ortiz fought guys like Juan Carlos Antonio Maldonado, Jose Santos Peralta and old Bert Cooper, but Ortiz management had trouble getting decent opponents because they didn't have much money.
