Is Wilder`s Cardiff no show a sign of cowardice?

No, not cowardice, just stupidity.

Of course it is. Only real men with no fear enter the Cardiff city limits.

 

I wouldn't say it's cowardice per se as I think Wilder himself doesn't fear anyone. But it's more a clear indication that his next fight will be Breazeale or Kownacki as Wilder himself has stated. Haymon likes to match Wilder vs his own fighters, they won't take the Whyte fight and putting Wilder in a position where he'll need to refuse the fight face to face will make him look bad.

Haymon controls Wilder and they only took the Ortiz fight because the TV network wasn't happy with the Stiverne fight and Ortiz is a Haymon fighter. Wilder won't face another non Haymon fighter before Joshua, if he faces Joshua at all. But refusing the Whyte fight so openly at such a big media event would expose that, there's no reason not to take that fight, makes him the most money apart from Joshua, is his top ranked challenger, adds to his legacy, would help build the Joshua fight, is a winnable fight, only reason for it not to happen is Haymon won't risk his WBC champion vs a fighter he doesn't control.

 

Over $11mil for Parker this fight. .. More than Wilder has made in his last 6 fights combined.
