Facty 1: Fres Oquendo was approached about fighting Wilder in October and demanded half a million (for the third-from-the-top non-televised billing) ... nice way of saying no Facty 2: Malik Scott was also approached and said no thanks, at least not for the money this fight paid Wilder's people want to get him in with someone who can give him rounds -- that was supposed to be Liakhovich, who had never been stopped in less than 9 and who had gone good rounds with good fighters. This fight is being made on a month's notice, and Showtime isn't putting up main event-type money, so no one of note is going to take it. And GBP isn't going to throw major money at a third-from-the-top-of-the-bill fight on a Bernard Hopkins undercard where Hopkins is fighting an unknown challenger who nobody is going to pay to see. Firtha went 12 with Banks, 10 with Povetkin and was toe-to-toe in a war with Fury. He is a solid journeyman who has been in decent fights with upper-level heavyweights. It's a good keep-busy fight for Wilder. Wonder why Al Haymon signed on with Wilder if he doesn't think he has a chance? Wonder why Golden Boy paid him a very nice bonus to resign an extended contract in the last few months? Guess they don't know anything.
He's 28, been a pro for 5 years and he's had Olympic boxing experience. He's past the stage of being a prospect. Anyone who knows anything about boxing knows he's either scared of fighting a live body, or he and his team are doing their best to hide a suspect chin. They'll try and cash out once he's ran out of cab drivers and milkmen to knock over in a couple of rounds.
I wouldn't say he is a coward but he has the most manufactured record and I think the hype he is receiving is unjustified.
Where are your sources for these "Facts" ? I just googled Fres Oquendo demands 500,000 for Wilder fight and nothing came up. Also Golden Boy and Al Haymon also have a contract with Seth Mitchell.
Youre on a boxing forum talking **** about a pro boxer. Runnin your **** sucker about someone doing something you cant do. Yea hes the coward. Stfu dumb ass.
Impossible to say,i think between 1-2 yrs.so what 3-4 fights a year?maybe little before his 40th pro fight.only want that people give wilder some time.because if he fights next year arreola etc..people start to demand the top 5opponents for wilder, and he is definetly not ready for that kind of jump.so i think wilder can fight 1-2 yrs against bum's and hope they find couple dudes with granite chin so wilder gets more rounds.he is still quit new to boxing, need to train more his defence, skill level in overall.honestly think at this point wilder fights somebody who can take his punch,he is going to lose.more training and atleast i see a chance to wilder, if the opponent can take the punches. That's my honest reason.i think wilder is not good enough yet,if he would they would push him already.
Still quit inexperienced.and not much experience at amateurs.read my post in this page, hope that you understand my points.as now wilder is not good enough, give him more time to train his skills and then wee see if he is any good or not.as right now he is not very good.
it's the fact that Wilder shouts his mouth off that makes me view him in a negative light. if he said that he's not ready for the better fighters in the division and needs more time to hone his craft, i wouldn't have a problem. but he walks round like he's done something in the division. but he's done absolutely nothing. literally, nothing. if he's as confident as he makes out, then he should step it the **** up already. the idiots on here that claim he'd beat most fighters out there don't help his cause either.
he's obviously way ahead of the opposition he's facing at the minute. so he does need to step up. only a bully would be happy to fight guys that poor and feel good about it. it's actually shocking.
i understand all that. but boxing shouldn't be used as some sort of charity. you fight to your level, not go round like a bully picking on inept bums for a pay check.
hell no! Kell is a genuinely talented fighter with a handful of solid wins on his resume. granted, he hasn't got any of the big boys on there, but it will come. he did have fights set with Alexander, but injuries got in the way. so he does want to step up. Wilder, not so much.
