Would Wilder win a tournament if all the US heavyweights entered? Probably not. As far as hopes for beating Wlad, though? Yes. Even though I'm confident Wlad knocks him out, I can at least see a scenario where Wilder catches him cold with one of those awkward punches, Mayorga-style. He'd at least have something to watch out for. The other guys, I can't even picture winning 2 rounds on Wlad's off day.
So did David Price. Didn't stop him from being exposed the first time he fought a live opponent like is gonna happen to Wilder. Audley and Liakhovich shouldnt even be allowed a boxing license for their own saefty after taking so many beatings, and being old completely washed up like they are.
Tony Thompson Vitali and Vladimir Klitschko are both far above Lyakhovich and Harrison.........Wilder could not land his right hand on Vlad in sparring for the Wach fight. It was a mismatch. Thompson would beat Wilder. Wach would knock Wilder out...........
Not only is he the USA's best hope, he's the best hope for every boxing fan that wants to see the Klitschko's dethroned. I don't think he can outbox either one of them, but he has the power to knock them out. I might be getting ahead of myself, but I'd put Wilder over Haye to beat one of the Klitshckos first. He's not as skilled or crafty as Haye, but he's way more motivated than Haye and combined with the power he has.....you'll see.
Another thing, if Wilder had as good marketing as say Adrien Broner, everyone would be carrying on like he's the second coming, which in relation to boxing, he might be!
I voted Jennings, thinking of a post-Klit world. But if we're talking about actually beating a Klit, this is the correct answer.
