Oh there is such a thing as getting a lucky Olympic medal . He couldn't get past the first round at the world championships becuase he had to face a half decent opponent ,
I think Michael Bentt was worse, he didn't even defend his title successfully like Wilder, but I can't think of anyone else that was worse than Wilder. Hide at least gave Bowe some trouble and beat Tucker, Spinks at least beat Ali and Douglas beat Tyson, McCall and Berbick. So I'd say Wilder is the 2nd worse title holder in the history of the division, at least based on current achievements.
He did so well against Stiverne, I am utterly puzzled as to why he went back on low level opposition diet.
I don't get it either. I was impressed when he iced Liakhovich and was expecting him to finally up his game but then he fought Firtha and had that farce with Malik Scott. After the Liakhovich fight I was hoping he was going to be the real deal, I was rooting for him, hoping for an exciting, young, hard hitting heavyweight on the scene to give Wlad some much needed competition. He then won the title and once again went back to fighting journeymen. I suspect his team know he is a KO waiting to happen and when he didn't KO Stiverne realised perhaps he wasn't the deadly puncher he sometimes looks like so might not even have a punchers chance against everyone.
Wilder wouldn't have defended against Hide though. And KO1 Morrison is better win than Wilder's wins. I'd probably rate Morrison above Wilder too, and Morrison was a glass jaw hype job too. Stiverne.
Probably? Morrison was MUCH better than Wilder, we're talking about a completely different level of fighter here.
