Yeah, that's why I never got the top10 heavyweight all time crap that was spouted by some about Wilder... Thompson, Peter, Byrd twice, Ibragimov, Mercer, McCline, Schultz and Brock vs Ortiz twice, Duhaupas, Stiverne twice, Szpilka, Arreola and Breazeale.
Wlad legacy is sealed (unless he un-retires & tries his Chin vs Deontay Wilder) Deontay Wilder is still starting...Peasants will grow shorter as Deontay Wilder legacy keeps towering above them, when Deontay Wilder is 55 years old he will win the Heavyweight title with a Single Right hand, that alone will make him the G.O.A.T. & lure a 500 lbs Tyson Fury out of retirement. Wlad has a habit of failing to beat ATGs, he could have caught up to Holy, Tyson, Lewis, but he stayed in his comfort zone & lost to big under-dogs....Wilder is around, if Wlad wants to test his Chin, he can come out (take a tune-up then challenge Wilder)
True Mercer was old and if not shot, well past his best by the time he fought Wlad. Byrd though probably beats everyone on Wilder's resume including Ortiz.
Yeah, but he's just one of the names (up to 34) on that list. Pretty sure he would have beaten 2017 Stiverne, Szpilka and maybe Arreola and Breazeale. Then just look at the rest of the names, it's incomparable. Wilder's list is very, very bleak at age 34 compared to Wlad's, from who a lot of his better wins came after that age...
Incomparable. Breland admits they had to learn on the job 1st 20/30 fights- hence the reason for taking on so many fighters not ranked.
Should never be mentioned in the same sentence. Whilst I've been highly critical of Wlad in the past, that's been down to his style and frustration of him being passive when he was more than capable of ending fights if only taking a small risk. I cannot however criticise his level of opposition, he fought whoever was the best available, he won multiple titles and defended them in dominant fashion. Wilder isn't and never has been a heavyweight champion, he's a titlist with a thin resume, nothing more.
Funny Byrd and Ortiz used similar soutpaw tactics against the bigger man, both blocked the jab with their high held lead hand and countered with jabs to the head and body, using 1-2`s.
Rahman... He was a late substitute for Wlad's mandatory at the time who pulled out. Can't remember who. edit: BR'd it... He was supposed to fight Povetkin, but he pulled out injured.
No idea without looking at boxrec, but regardless, his resume pisses over Wilders, who other than 2 losses to Fury has Ortiz as his best win... a guy who himself has beaten absolutely no one and struggled post roids with low level journeymen. His skillset however was still enough to give Wilder fits.
