What is Wilder playing at? Does anybody other than the LDBC want Fury v Wilder 3?

If his plan was one last payday without having to get in the ring again, it looks like it's backfiring.

If his plan was one last payday even if it costs him a 2nd/3rd loss on his record (depending on your perspective)... Nope, going exactly to plan.

If his plan was to get back into the bigtime... Fury is all kinds of wrong for him and IMHO he'd have been better picking an opponent he's more likely to beat.

Wilders people are either trying to force Fury’s hand and pay him a huge step aside fee or the most likely scenario is Wilder is adamant about wanting the 3rd fight and making another massive blunder.

This. Depends on his motives. If he really does want the 3rd fight with Fury then it's not, but if he just wants the step aside money (most likely) then it probably is.

The fight won't make a dime, and neither will Deontay. No one is going to buy it, and even if Fury is obligated to fight him, promoters are not obligated to pay big money.

The Saudi money is plentiful, they will speculate (pay big stand aside money) to accumulate (make mega mega money from having the unification bout on their turf).

Fury can say to Wilders stand aside demands NO.

But his paymasters can say yes.

Wilders plan is not backfiring, if he has to take the bout then will earn big bucks in a Heavyweight title fight, without needing to fight others to get that chance.

If however the stand aside money is given in anywhere near ballpark figure being requested, then kerching the $$$$$$$$$$$$ will roll in.

Are the money men behind Fury and AJ going to risk losing their mega mega money fight rather than paying Wilder stand aside money? It is a gamble, either fighter getting unseated by another challenger, them giving up titles etc etc both scenarios that has happened to these two champs individually before.

As Clint Eastwood might say to the money men "you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?"

Why do you believe Wilder most likely wants the step aside money more than the 3rd fight? He's been asking for the fight from the jump.

It looks like it's front firing, or whatever you would call a plan that's working pretty well.

It was pretty much a win win for Wilder. He stands to get the rematch or paid for sitting on his ass.

Doesn't matter! A contract was signed. Either Fury honors the contract or pay Wilder step aside money.

He was never, ever going to get paid $25 million to step aside. Asking for $25 million is like when Spence demands a 90-10 split with Crawford, what you're saying is my price is so high you'll have to find an alternative.

I would be surprised if the step aside offer was higher than $2 million. Eddie Hearn himself said he wouldn't consider a 7 figure step aside demand, never mind 8 figure.

Fury's handlers have screwed this up big time. I would have fired Frank Warren and Bob Arum for this

It's not like he's going to come out and say look i'm just activating this rematch clause so I can drag this through arbitration and gain leverage for a nice wedge of step aside money when they try and make the undisputed fight.

And let's face it, what would you do? Angle for 20mil or whatever for doing nothing or fight the guy that just beat you absolutely senseless and will probably do the same again, thus ending your career at the elite HW level for a similar amount.

I'm sure if the Fury v Wilder 3 fight goes ahead he'll take it and roll the dice but I'd be highly surprised if he isn't angling for a pay out first and foremost.

Obviously this is just the way I'm seeing it, I'm not saying this is 100% what is happening.
