It was being hyped by his fanboys as otherworldly. Very overrated. Other than Scuba Scott anyone who wasn't a complete corpse has taken him rounds.

i think wilder hits very hard, but those windmills are shocking, easily countered.

a straight right hand does the job.

He has visibly hurt the majority of his opponents during the fight. It's not overrated. Is it Beterbiev like? No...but, he is in there with HWs. And he is not a big HW, himself. He is very tall, but he comes in fairly lean and light. IMO, he has exceptional power for a HW.

He's not featherfisted, clearly has power but his power isn't particuly special either.

Went almost 9 rounds with Molina who Arreola stopped in 1
Went 8 rounds with shot punching bag Arreola. Stiverne stopped a better version earlier and more convincingly.
Took almost 9 rounds to stop Szpilka with a shot he ran right into, Mollo a journeyman already exposed Szpilka as not having the greatest chin.. Pretty sure Szpilka had been hurt others as well.... Oh yeah not to mention he had already been stopped by light hitting Jennings.
Couldn't make a dent in Duhaupas. Who was stopped late on his feet. To be fair Duhaupas seems to be exceptionally durable... But Wilders power doesn't seem to be anything special at the world stage.

I don't think it is his power that's really in question as much as his technique. His punches are very wide and usually predictable. But, in exchanges he always gets the best of his opponent. They don't shrug off his power, even if they are able to go a few more rounds or see the bell. If he threw shorter, compact more disquised punches they would likely be more effective.

He hits hard but there are harder hitters and better punchers in the division who due to their better technique and skills can deliver than power more effectively.

DW is pretty underrated on this forum. Every boxing fan have to admit that DW is great puncher (10/10). His technique is not perfect, but he is certainly top ten on punch power list. Thanks God, You tube still exists, you can see...
