Vasquez Jr respects Nonito as a fighter and would not just try to bulldoze him recklessly like say Hatton did against Pacquiao, and Vasquez Jr and his team did the right thing by taking this fight cause it ain't exactly the easiest thing in the world to get a fight with a top 5 p4p level fighter.
Maybe he is, but he just lost to a guy who was supposed to be a limited corpse of a fighter and lost. High risk / High reward time (although the risk is HUGE)
The Chatter in this thread, has made this fight jump to one of my can't wait to watch fights can't wait...
I like Vasquez. But i really believe he gets stopped in this fight. It will be great whilst it lasts.
A big step up, but he is already getting much more respect for not taking the easy road. Its a win a win situation for him. And anyone that fights people associated with Victor Conte and doesnt demand random testing has my respect already
I don't think its a huge step up, Montiel was a huge step up. So someone Like Arce, Nishioka, R Marquez! would have been the better road... not a green guy, who just got stopped in a fight he was supposed to shine in VS a guy who is an Amazing dude but past his best.. I mean I still like the fight the size of Vzquez should make it interesting and that is what I am looking forward to hopefully the size makes this fight interesting...
Donaire doesnt like to be pressured, as he gets into his bicycle if he feels pressured. But Vaz needs to keep his guard up so he wont get tagged with left hooks by Nonito. Donaire KO Vaz
I agree that it's a big step up for WVJ. Arce was supposed to be a well known name on WVJ's "W" column, and he was doing o.k. until he got caught. Now he is going against Donaire, who has two brilliant stoppages of world class fighters, and were considered to be at or near the top of their respective divisions. What I don't agree on is that it is a win-win for WVJ. It's dangerous for his career. What does he do if he loses? He'll have lost to a past his best fighter, and have lost against a coming up in weight fighter. That pretty much leaves him in no-man's land, IMO. He'll either have to move up in weight and try his luck there. I would have much rather seen him get a few more fights under his belt to have him gain more experience before putting him in against Donaire. We will see how he handles this fight. Arce got knocked out by Michael Carbajal when he was up and coming and went on to do well in his career. Hopefully WVJ can do well and surprise everyone. Has anyone thought that this fight may result in a draw? :yikes
:huhName one fighter that was smaller than Nonito. Nonito has a reputation in the peoples republic of the filipinas to be a giant killer. Nonito is #2 p4p and coincidently my 2 favorite fight because he proved him self against the titans at bantamweight.
I really can't comment on Donaire's career since I haven't followed him at all. The first time I saw him fight was against Darchinyan. And I do know that Donaire went down in weight to fight Darchinyan. He's a big fighter for the lower weight classes, but as long as he makes weight it is all fair game, IMO.
