Is Winky currently one of the best 15 fighters in the world? If so, why?

I keep seeing him on all these lists, as one of the top 10 fighters in the world. Well, let's see an argument for him being at least in the Top 15...

I am not going to argue against anyone anymore; I have promised not to make or criticise p4p lists anymore, but I would be very interested to see on what basis he is rated as highly as he is. Thank you.

    Erm......

If he was actually active, I would have no choice but to say yes.

But he isn't, therefore I have no choice but to exclude him. I had him losing to Hopkins 116-112, four apiece at the end of the 8th, and losing each of the last four.

...I think a case could be made for him holding onto a place at the bottom end of a 15, yeah. He's a MW that has just failed in a bid to win the LHW crown from a tricky veteran champ, and although the two previous were less than dazzling performances, nor were they busted or shot performances.

Winky's placing probably hinges on Pavlik's placing now - I don't see how it is possible to rank Wright above Pavlik at this time.

Lets look at the past 4 years shall we. Actually lets look at the past 8 years since his disputed loss to Vargas, where since he hadn't lost a fight. He dominated Shane the first time, and then beat him (less badly) clearly again in the rematch. Shane is still on peoples top 15 P4P list even today. He then dominated Felix Trinidad who was coming off a big win over Mayorga. He beat Soliman, then Beat Quartey (who arguably beat Forrest, who I believe you had on your top 15). He then went on to fight Taylor to a Draw, that I scored clearly for Wright. Note, he's fighting at 160 because he is searching for money fights, he could still be at 154lbs where nobody could touch him. But at this point he is undisputed top 5 P4P on EVERYONES list. He then moves all the way up to 170 (first time there) and fights another P4P fighter who is coming down have you, and who is also a master at figuring guys out and using your style against you. Come fight night, Winky looks like he just walked out of a chinese buffet. He then goes on to make it a very tough fight and was actually ahead. He gassed late and gave the fight away.....which would be expected at a higher weight against a guy who is rough-housing you. This loss says nothing about Wright diminishing as a fighter, only stepping up too far from weight. So the justification is not needed to KEEP him in the top 15, You need to justify DROPPING him from the top 5 to outside the top 15 actually.

So Winky could be almost, if not completely, as effective at 154 as he was at his peak, but he is taking fights at higher weights for money, is what you're saying, right?

I wonder how many would agree with you...

i would still consider winky to be top 15 but only just in about a year times fighters like guzman, kessler and berto will clearly be ahaed of him p4p plus he's actin like a ***** with his money demands at the moment.

Part 2....Absolutely. As far as him being as effective as he was in his peak, yes he could be against the current lot there. He isn't as good as he was, but he is still good enough. Who at 154lbs would beat him?

The point is not so much whether the current lot at 154 could beat him or not, but whether they are high enough ranked p4p such that, if Winky were to beat them, he would confirm his p4p Top 15 ranking.;)

Nevermind, I'll do it for you:
    DECEBALS TOP 15 P4P LIST:
    1-4. Mayweather/Calzaghe/JMM/Pacquiao - take your pick; I don't care.
    5. Cotto
    6. Vazquez
    7. Marquez
    8. Haye
    9. Pavlik
    10. Hatton
    11. Kessler
    12. Dawson
    13. Klitschko
    14. Abraham
    15. Spinks

Kessler and Hatton are both coming off losses where they were soundly outboxed and Hatton was ktfo. Who has Abraham ever beaten to justify him being there? Miranda took him through a war, and it's no secret how limited he is. Haye over Wright on a P4P sense? Come on man. Spinks has proven nothing. Beating Karmazin is ok, but he then went on to fight Taylor, and not do as well as Wright did and Spinks and Wright should be in the same weight class. How do you think Spinks would've done up at 170lbs :think You stated that Struggled with Soliman, How bad did Hatton struggle with Collazo and Urango? :patsch
