Is Winky currently one of the best 15 fighters in the world? If so, why?

Well...he did fight Taylor in June 2006 and Taylor was top 10 pound for pound and Winky deserved the win in that one ! He's realistically still a top 15 because of his competition even if he rarely fights....

But he needs a win against a very tough cookie now or he'll definitely drop off that list !

**** bro, even KG appears to agree with us on this one.:p

It's why I don't get into these P4P discussions much because I usually completely disagree with a lot of them (Winky for sure).

Dude Beware of Dog completely answered the question, which should should end the discussion from all right thinking fans.

Please, please, present the counterargument and the better 14 lb for lb fighters.

Winky definitly belongs in the top 15 where you put him is on you but he deserves to e there......people saying he hasnt done **** in a while isnt a good argument because even then.....there are not 15 fighters that deserve ranking over him....P4P lists are hard to put together bcause people use different reasons to rank...if its activity then maybe he drops.....other than that...he belongs in the top 15........alos earlier ont he post i seen a list where 1-4 was i guess interchangeable....i dont know how 1 should be anymore blurry for them....2-4 maybe interchangeable...but 1 is damn near stone etched.

BoD's argument is fallacious. He says that since he only lost to another highly rankes p4p fighter in the meantime (Hopkins), Wright, shouldn't fall more than a couple of places from the Top 3 position he enjoyed previously...

Well, his argument would only be a good one if he could prove that Winky was indeed a Top 3 fighter before the fought Hopkins, that Hopkins was a Top 10 p4p fighter and that Winky hadn't shown decline in the meantime. He can prove none of these things so his argument is worth nothing.

You don't make an argument for someone being rated highly by arguing: "Well, all these respected commentators had him very highly ranked before his last loss, so he cannot have declined so much in that meantime". Screw these "respected commentators". They have Hopkins at p4p no. 4!!!

If you want to convince ANYONE that Winky deserves a place in the top 15, you need to start with an argument based on EVIDENCE, not based on relying on authority, which is in this case clearly contested!

So...keep trying or admit that you cannot make an argument for him being Top 15.

    Unfortunately, it would!

If I had sufficient knowledge about all the fighters involved, I would not hesitate to carry on; p4p is not a flawed concept at all, to me.

Forget Abraham. You need to make a case why Winky is Top 15. Don't go about it by attacking whatever list I may have made in the past. They are irrelevant. Prove to me that Winky is Top 15 from first principles, not by attacking my lists...

IMO winky wright is not currently a top 15 p4p fighter .

his handspeed is now very average
his feet are stuck in cement
the change from defensive to pressure fighter has not suited him
    he has no power
he gets caught more than he used to
fighting anywhere above 154 has not really agreed with him when facing naturally bigger men.

IMO winky wright is still competitive at the higher weights and has a name, but p4p , nope his skills/speed/lack of size and power are big factors against him .

Why are you being silly about this. Are you denying that Winky was at least top 5 P4P prior to the Hopkins fight? The general concensus was that Winky was top 3 next to Floyd and Pac. Maybe you started following boxing the day after he fought Hopkins though. If Manny Pac moves up and loses a decision to the much bigger Ricky Hatton, or Judah or Floyd....should he fall out of the top 15? Actually a loss to such a bigger fighter shouldn't really effect his P4P status at all. Whether you believe it or not, Hopkins was much better suited at that weight then Wright and it was clear that night. He is the naturally bigger fighter, Wrights P4P status should only be judged in the appropriate context. How would he have done if he hadn't had to put on the extra pounds and was fighting somebody his exact size??? My argument is not fallacious, because you don't constantly have to prove somebody belongs where they are, you have to determine when to drop them and then back up that action. If it went on a fight by fight basis, then why would Floyd Mayweather remain #1 P4P after beating Gatti or Baldomir when other P4P fighters were putting on GREAT performances against much much better competition???? I'll tell you why, its because of what Floyd did prior, what everyone knows he's capable of and you just cannot justify replacing him with somebody.
