I feel he is. He has dropped out of p4p status because he's lost or drawn some recent fights. This is simple enough logic. However whaat is over looked is that Winky moved up into weightclasses that diminished his advantage in search of pay yielding fights. At 154 he was in a class of his own. But his style wasn't aesthetically pleasing enough for PPV buyers and he found his only way to earn $ was to fight big names - all of whom he found at Middle Weight and above. That he fough the like of Taylor of Hopkins at an unnatural weight and made them close is a testament to his ability. Winky still has only one loss ijn nearly 10 years and that was to Bernard Hopkins at Light Heavy.
Thank god nobody wants to fight him. Realistically how many of you would pay the 50$ to watch Winky VS Bernard in a main event? LOL Hardly anyone.
I actually think he was viewed correctly for many years from 2004 to 2007 ! He's not underrrated as of now but possibly before he met Shane Mosley...
He's dropped out of P4P because he's 37 and hasn't fought in over a year. Not only that, but other than the Taylor fight, he hasn't looked particularly good in years. If he stayed more active, he'd get more respect.
No he is not underrated and in fact he seems to be well respected by all the boxing fans especially those on ESB. I think Winky is a good fighter but I am not a fan because his fights are generally not exciting enough for me.
i really enjoy watching winky fight and would pay the ppv cost i enjoy his tech style and how he is so hard to hit clean but he has been looked over alot DLH should have fought him but he never will if winky fights agian soon id like to see him fight maybe Margarito or pW or hell even Santos
I appreciate watching technical fighters so i like watching him fight but I can see why others don't.
I think his fights are good when he fights an offensive fighter( taylor) he can give a great fight... the only fighter i see beating him is calzaghe slapping his shell and lookinf for angles to catch him...he hypes himself and thinks he is worth million dollars, it would be good to see him koed someday
