Is Winky Wright done as a Fighter?

if winky wasnt so greedy he would of had at least 2 fights after his loss to hopkins.

 

He got a few serious offers and he's turning all down. The man is delusional, he has been inactive for so long and hasn't done anything lately yet he thinks he's worth more money. He should be glad that he's getting those offers as they won't come to him again, if he doesn't make a move soon then he's done.

 

Abraham said that he will fight Pavlik in the US. Wright is in no position to travel for, he's the one who should be running after the guys right now considering his inactivity and loss. This is a very good offer he got from Abraham and Pavlik that he turned down because he wants far more when he isn't offering much.

 

True that. The problem Winky has is that he hasn't fought at 160 in almost two years and the division has moved on in his absence. Winky and Taylor were probably the top two after their draw, however, Taylor has moved on, Pavlik is now the big dog and AA the #1 contender to his supremacy.

Winky isn't in the position at the moment where, if he is serious about re-establishing himself at middleweight, he can afford to be turning down offers from Abraham or any other top guy on the grounds that he wants home advantage. Realistically, the fight would probably have to be in Germany to make any money anyway. Winky isn't a big draw in the states, doesn't have a belt and isn't more highly ranked at the mo so it's not up to Abraham to go out of his way to accomodate him.

I think unless Winky does something of note soon his career is likely to peter out without him re-establishing himself at top level. He's probably not going to get a better offer from Abraham, Pavlik is otherwise occupied and who else is there who's going to capture the attention of the public?

 

Very true. He had a very good chance to make the rematch but he turned that down as well and demanded he should be treated as the "winner" of the fight and be offered more money. Please note that Taylor was the undisputed champion at the time and Wright was completely looking at it as he was the champion and it was Taylor(the champion) pushing to make a rematch.

Exactly, it's also Abraham the champion who is calling him out here, pretty much like Pavlik did and he keeps turning down those offers like they will come later. It's ridiculous if you ask me, either shows he's not serious anymore or just talking trash to remain in the picture whenever he decides to come. Even though he turned down a lot at least he might as well take a tune-up type of fight or just stay active, talking is doing nothing for him right now.

No one else indeed, he needs to make a move if he's serious about it. So far he has done nothing, even a tune-up type of fight shouldn't be bad but he's just doing nothing which will hurt him soon if he ever decides to return as offers sent to him won't be better than they are now with everyone else moving on and getting better options.
