It's highly probable, sure. Povetkin is gonna have everything in his favour, from the referee to the judges.
Everything is possible! Topalov: Kramnik will never admit that he cheated... 19.12.2006 - "... or the Kremlin that they killed the Russian spy." In a startling interview with a Spanish daily Veselin Topalov (not Silvio Danailov, Topalov!) has launched a fresh wave of attacks against the winner of the Elista world championship Vladimir Kramnik, claiming that it was orchestrated by the KGB, which also threatened him and his team physically. Read and be amazed. The interview begins with a brief description of his life and career in Spain. Then it turns to the scandal at the World Championship match in Elista. Topalov says there were "clear indications of cheating" in the way Kramnik went to the bathroom, came out and played instantly. Cables were found in the ceiling of the bathroom, but the Topalov team kept quiet "for many reasons." Topalov specifies that "there were threats", that the airport was closed and his team was worried how they could get out of Russia.
I see Povetkin coming on some sort of special PED to withstand Wlad's 700kg power jabs all night long. I see ugly draw decision if Wlad fails to KO Povetkin even if the match is completely one sided. I see attempts to cheat on every possible level and as much as the K's are going to be extremely cautious they may miss 1 thing and it could be crucial. This fight is too political for the Russians to let it go. Starting from that Wlad is from Ukraine and given the attitude towards Ukrainians in Russia. Too much money are also involved, and these are the money that are on the table, who knows what is happening under...I just see political decisions all the time in boxing starting from the Olympics to the professional ring. Of course I would be very happy if the match goes in a fair play.
Another site made the mention that the ref for this fight has been very sketchy in the past. Not consistent at all in how he does a fight. Would not surprise me if they are giving Povetkin the very best chance possible, and Wlad might need a knockout towin.
The fact that Putin is there along with other members of the political elite along with the fact that V. Klitschko is an oustpoken opponent of the Russian-aligned current president of the Ukraine is indeed cause for worry. I hope and believe Wladimir's team is experienced enough to cover every angle pre-fight and that Wlad realises he better stop Povetkin if he gets the chance.
If a fighter's only goal is too survive, its harder to knock him out than you think. Sultan and Haye ducked, dived, and ran their way to the final bell against Wlad. Povetkin lacks their speed, but he's shown good whiskers and its possible he could see the final bell.
Luis Pabon has been known to favour the promoter's boy, he let Huck hit Povetkin on the back of the head without so much as a warning, so Huck could become the first German HW champion since Max Schmelling, he was also handpicked by the Haye camp for the Chisora fight to make sure Chisora couldn't fight Haye on the inside
Very possible in this case. That's one reason why I don't believe this will go the distance, with Wlad well knowing Povetkin has to be completely out of there for him to win. I fully expect it wouldn't go beyond the mid rounds. Wlad has to knock him out and will take the very first chance he gets, not taking any chances and not having to meet the network demands of a certain amount of commercials being shown. But if it goes the distance and it was even somewhat competative, Povetkin gets the nod.
:deal I still have Wlad winning by early-mid rd KO, but can say with all the possible factors, and the recent horrid judging in other major bouts, there is a feeling something fishy could happen.
:roflatsch The excuses are in already. Povetkin will get a dose of Gamma Ray treatment in his dressing room before the fight and come out as the pink Hulk impervious to the feather fisted punches Wlad will be landing on his nuked up dome.
Shut up you idiot ! There has been a lot of fights in Russia lately and no unfairness that I have seen. Stop making excuses.
