Is Wlad just a Bute without a Froch to fight?

Wlad looked sensational on Saturday. Those piston like one-two's. Wow! What a beating he laid down!

But then it occured to me that Wach is a can of the highest order. He makes Marco Huck look like Pernell Whitaker, FFS.

So, I got thinking, that reminds me of Lucian Bute. He looked superb crushing cans in his adopted home of Canada, kind of like Wlad in his adopted home of Germany. I remember thinking Bute was the truth and might clear out the division, but then we all know what happened...

My problem with Wlad is that I don't think he has any fighter on his resume of the calibre of Froch (not to mention Ward or Kessler), so how can we be sure Wlad isn't just another Bute without a Froch to fight? Not that it's Wlad's fault - I don't think he is a ducker - it's just such a poor division. I guess we will never be able to say Wlad is truly great.

The problem is Wlad met his froch in the legendary Corrie Sanders (after a humiliating loss to journeyman Purrity and a poisoning caused by Brewster's left hook where he was still adapting to a new style which he fully implemented when he beat brewster).

After being sparked he has markedly improved whereas Bute is probably too old to change style and improve once more.

Terrible comparison. Wlad is miles above Bute in skill level and physical attributes.

If there were a "Froch character" around for him to fight, he would be out boxed and take a beating from Wlad like everyone else in the past 8 years.

Yeah, yeah... at least 90% of people on ESB thought Bute was the real deal. Almost everybody was left with egg on their face once Froch demolished him. In fact, I would say there was more agreement here on the so-called ability of Bute than there is on Wlad now. Even most Brits thought he would beat Froch.

So how can we really be sure of Wlad's ability and status in the pantheon of HW greats when an overweight 40-year-old semi-pro golfer is the best name on his resume?

Wlad had proven his skills time and again against ELITE comp. Bute was knocked the first time he stepped up. See why it's a bad comparison?

If the HW division had a Froch, Wlad would out box him and make him look silly just like Ward did. You severely underrate the boxing ability of Wlad. The hand and foot speed would be astounding against a slow Froch type.

P4P list after dodging the super six and not stepping up? Hope you weren't one of them. Proving your skills against elite comp is different than cans.

Do you really think Wlad hasn't faced and beat any elite fighters?

    Done with this thread.

Price and Fury and most others would of handled Wach in the excat same manner Wlad did. A limited fighter like Wach had no business on the world stage with Wlad. I cant give any credit to a champion fighting a guy as poor as that.

Froch took **** for selecting Mack for his next fight after all the champs he's been fighting from the last 3 -4 yeras. Wlad fights 3 Mack type caliber fighters in a row and he's deemed one of the best in history. Ridiculous

Go on then, who were they ? Cos for all your slagging off of David Haye he's arguably Wlads best win, which is shite. Not really Wlads fault ,he's beaten whats in fornt of him emphatically but the level of competition is dreadful.

Yes, that is what I think, hence the opening post.

If you think differently, please provide me with the names of these elite fighters Wlad has faced.

I think Sanders is the best name on his resume, but he was hardly elite imo, although he convincingly smashed Wlad up I suppose.
