Boxing so much better than the days of his dreadful jab and grab tactics.

The only fight I truly enjoyed watching him fight in was against Joshua. I wasn’t a fan of the Klit era, but I still give the guy credit. He generally conducted himself well and built a good record albeit against lesser opposition compared to other eras. I don’t hate him, but I wouldn’t want to see another era like it again.

Fury’s disgraceful reign as WBC title holder makes me appreciate the Klitschkos even more.

I kinda disagree with the money. I think it's guys getting these big pay days before they even fight a top 10 opponent that is really hurting the sport. Promoters stretching out fights and making PPV events for fights that would come on boxing after dark back in the day. People are willing to pay, but the product sucks.

As far as just making fights happen, AJ. He fought who he needed to fight. Hated far too much.

Good riddance to this dip****!

But it’s funny how the usual suspects try and dismiss Sam Peter in his prime. Didn’t Peter completely out box James Toney during the peak of Toney’s HW roid days??? Also dropping him in the process?? The Same Toney who these same Usual suspects were claiming could “Whoop the Klitschkos” back in the mid to late 2000’s??

And Sultan Ibragimov could destroy guys like Anderson and Miller today. So could Chagaev at his best. Chagaev actually beat Felix Savon which was a very hard thing to do. And although an ugly fight… defeating prime Povetkin is no walk in the park. Dropping him a few times in the process.

The Klitschko’s era while certainly not the best… DEFINITELY wasn’t the worst either. You Telling me guys like prime Povetkin, Sultan, Prime Haye, Chisora, Ruslan, Peter and prime Pulev couldn’t have whooped guys like Lucien Rodriguez, David Bey and MARVIS Frazier??? GTFOH! Lol

Perfected by Ali in the "great" 1970s era of 195lb. CW-HWs and 6'3" 220lb. "monster" HWs :D
By ~2010 a 6'3" 220lb. HW was smallish, and currently, like Usyk, is a small HW. Usyk is extremely talented and would be competitive or defeat the top 70s HWs.

Wlad had a great career. Many here hate on him for all the wrong reasons. US will never dominate the HW div. like it once did. Get over it.

There is a lack of tv dates now and days so yes few guys will have as many fights as Wladimir, James Toney, pac etc

As an activity - that is the type of heavyweight we miss. But for the rest - I hope he is the last no-sanctions clinch abuser and top cheater.

Yeah he fought a lot compared to heavyweights now, but then the top guys now make a lot more money than he did so they really don't need to fight as often as he did.

That's where money has perhaps made the sport worse. If someone like Fury can get 25 mill for fighting Chisora or Joshua can earn 10 mill for Franklin which is a small purse for him, then you can see why there's little impetus to fight more often. Which is a shame as it's good for the sport when there are more fights to get fans hooked. Hard for new fans to come to the sports if the big names are fighting once or twice per year if even that frequently.

But having said that this era is more exciting than Wlads. Wlad was simply too dominant, there was just no drama going into most of his defences with really only Haye and Povetkin being seen as serious threats and even then those fights left fans unsatisfied as the fights were so one sided and lacking in drama.

In the sense that if we look only at the heavy category, Wlad is the last of the dying breed. And if we look at all the categories, it is not; there's Canelo and Manny Pacquiao.

Wladimir is bigger than any of today's heavyweights who choose their opponents carefully, in his later years he fought Fury and Joshua before many others would dare…

He had great marketing and the German people adored him, saw him on of their own. There were even plans to change his name to Walter or Willi Klitschmann and give him German citizenship which the brothers refused.

They made their audience think that Mormeck was as dangerous as Mike Tyson. They could sell any fight and make a big show before. I don't think any boxers had such ridiculous entrances as the Klitschko brothers.

I think both brothers could have been bigger names in any era though.
