Wlad is perhaps past his absolute best (2009) but he's still in his prime.

Vitali is past his prime, but he's still very good.

It's hard to argue he's not been in his prime since the Byrd fight.

What you also got to consider is that Physical prime and Mental prime.

hes been in physical prime for some time, but mental has only really peaked after he took out Haye.
I see a more confident Wlad today than before.

Times have changed dramatically in the last 10 years. Fighter's will be in their 'prime' longer and will reach a much later age than even a decade ago. Science alludes to this. Life Expectancy are steadily increasing as one example. One theory for this is all the hormones found in meat and milk, especially, but not limited to, America. My favourite proof of this is women's cup sizes. Over the last 10 or 15 years, the average cup size has grown from a B to a C. But it is a strongly held theory that humans will enjoy a higher quality of life longer and at a later age, boxers are no exception.

I think that barring serious, recurring injuries (to the knee or back etc.) modern training methods are allowing athletes who are model professionals to stay on top of their game for longer than ever before - this is especially true in a sport like boxing where the fighters have a lot of time off between fights, reducing the strain on their physiques. I venture that WK is a model professional and that he is thus still in his prime - he should start to decline in a couple of years time, but no sooner (again; barring serious injury). He's had 3-4 tough fights in his career - but while he has been knocked out has never taken an extended beating or been knocked completely unconscious (as far as I know) - this would also mean he has more on the clock than some of his colleagues.

he is still in prime. However, he's 37 next birthday and both physically and regeneratively his body is past peak. He will get by on his craft and skill for the next few years, providing the next Mike Tyson don't spring up between now and then. Which is kinda like the second coming of Jesus round here. Everyone's waiting.

he OUGHT to do that, dont you mean.

If you arent getting out of the ring at the top level at 38, you probably need your head seeing to.

Lewis got it right, to the point of perfection. Hope the Klits do it too, Vit man pay attention.

He may be slightly past his physical prime, but I think he is still perfecting his style of fighting. I think in some ways he is getting even better. So I would say he is still peaking in some ways, but he is physically slowing down a little bit.

Exactly. It seemed like after he got past Peter and he demolished Byrd, he felt like his anxieties and fears were behind him. After Byrd he must have felt like okay, now I just demolished him a second time, worse than the first. I'm the champ again and I'm picking up right were I left off. Since then it's been total shut outs. I'd say...PRIME BABY! :bbb

I pretty much agree. My experience with aging and sports. A man is at peaketween the year of 27 and 35 somewhere around thirty five the reflexes start to slow,0 speed decreases somewhere after that. recuperative powers slip. We have seen boxers get old over night it seems 38 things have pretty much slipped at 40 if a guy is hanging around and winning he is just better and smarter than others. I beleive that Vitali is slipping and should retire barring injury he should fight one more time and scrath out a victory because he is just tuff Vlad with his cautious style and knowledge should be able to fight 4 or five more years and win unless a future superstar comes along and gets him at around 38. Lennox got out at the right time. Smart man. We have so many fighters get old especially ones that depend on refexes and athleticism

Slap bang in his prime, doubt he will show any signs of decline for a good few years yet.
