I've been wondering about this for awhile. Sure, there's no comparison between the level of competition. But I look at the way Klitschko completely shuts down attempts by smaller fighters to get in, and it's impressive. Even though I think Lennox was the better fighter, I tend to think Wladimir is at least as good at him at effective use of his jab. Not trying to be a fan boy, but even in a weak era, it is impressive. Thoughts ?

Yes. He's the best fighter at controlling range i've ever seen, ever at any weight.

    He's better than Monzon.

He didn't have the height/reach advantages that Wlad tends to enjoy.

Lewis was the master of boxings` puppets

The difference is Lewis looks to break the opponent down rather than be content to jab jab jab jab and grab for the whole fight.

Can you see any small non-punchers from the past or present who would beat him ? The only ones I can think of who I would favor are Johnson and Holyfield.

I agree that the Tua fight was a great performance by Lewis. But, it seems like that was more a case of Tua eventually tasting Lewis's power and choosing to stay back. Tua was also too heavy in that fight. Although, I'm not sure how Klitschko would have performed against Tua.

Theres about the same height difference between Lewis and Tua and between Wlad and Chagaev, Tua was much more dangerous. He had a real punch, Chagaev wasnt nearly as much of a threat yet Wlad stayed at a distance and threw the straightest of long range punches taking zero chances to break the guy down. If he was facing Tua I think Wlad would have fallen over with fright although Tua would have an even more reach disadvantage.

Want to see how good he is at controlling range against a guy with very quick hands that throws straight punches?.

    Watch the Sanders fight.;)

Well in all fairness he did in fact break the guy down, perhaps even better than Lewis did against Tua. Personally I think they're in a similar league, as both are great at controlling range.

Lewis is probably better at it in the sense he as a better track record against swamers, if you go by the Sanders and Brewster defeats.

Yeah, but we can always bring up the Rahman and McCall fights. Although Klitschko didn't avenge 2 of his losses, I think he's now a much better fighter in terms of endurance, tying the other fighter up, and keeping him at bay.

Peter was a threat. But Klitschko pretty much neutralized all that he had to offer aside from rabbit punches and shoves.
