    Notable wins

    Chris Byrd x2
    David Haye
    Sam Peter x2
    Ray Mercer

12 consecutive title defences, third most in HW history

Is he in the 10 best heavyweights of all time

    Please take into account

    Head-to-head
    Resume
    Longevity
    Prime

So when considering Wlad against the other HW's, please take into account his performance from say, the Haye fight, rather than the Wlad of the Sanders, Brewster, or Purrity fights. As there is a quite clear indication which is the better version, in the same way Mike Tyson from the Holmes fight, is not the same Tyson who faced Lewis.

However of course that consideration is strictly speaking for head-to-head, when rating him (and others) overall, losses have to be taken into account to some degree.

    No

Everyone else in the top10 either has beaten a great fighter or cleaned out & dominated the division

    Wlad hasnt done either

No. He's a great champion, but I can't with a clear conscience put him top 10 when his best wins are Sam Peter, Chris Byrd, David Haye and old Mercer, or whatever. JMHO.

I will wait until Wladimir has retired from the sport before I decide where I rank him.

He's on a pretty good streak so far. Exciting to see how far he will go.

    NO.

Because he's not British and/or black.

I have him about fifteen. If someone had him just inside the top ten, I would not feel strongly against it, though it's not happening on my list, for now. I have a hard time seeing him out of the top twenty. He is around the Pattersons and Jeffries, for me. I have no problem with his resume. If he had one great win, he actually would be inside my top ten already, I think, but as far as good wins, I say he's built up a deep resume of historically C+-B+ heavyweights.

Part of it is the fact that he's not come close to losing against them for six straight years with a major title, rarely not winning by stoppage, and never winning by anything other than a clear decision, never even being dropped. Against a variety of sizes and styles. Even against guys who are not historically A-level heavies, that's not something anything less than a great fighter should be able to accomplish, in my opinion. He's earned his place among the great heavies, but this division's existed so long and had so many great careers that he doesn't yet rank highly among those other greats, for me.

NO WAY!!!!! Look at the type of fighters in the top 10. He will have to dominate for a lot longer to get even close

He isn't done yet. We will see what happens then. He's probably the bottom/middle of the top 10 right now for me.

I think there is a difference between who was the best boxers and accomplished the most during their period vs "if we had them all fight each other, who would come out on top". Tunney and Dempsey are on the top 10 for me on what they accomplished. But I don't think either would be able to compete against the more modern heavies due to size. LL, Wlad, Vitali would just be to big for them.
