FAIL!-It is obvious that you just don't like him....No way is Vitali above Wlad in terms of greatness, perhaps H2H but even that is debatable...Langford my #4 ATG overall but not at HW c'mon....Tunney fought a whole 4 fights at HW yet he is top 20...Do you even watch boxing????Fitz (My number 6 overall ATG), Max Bear & Jenette (who I also love) don't even enter a conversation of top 25's.

Williams had a great career but not one that could compete with a decade's domination of a division.

I class duran as a greater lw based on that.

Counting out Chagaev who beat Valuev and Brewster who beat Liakovich is difficult when considering Wlads best wins.

Also, he essentially sent an emerging Brock into retirement when he was undefeated. He dominated and KOd a PRIME Jameel McCline just after he KOd prime Briggs in better fashion than Lewis, and Grant in better fashion than Lewis.

Wlad's legacy is writing itself, although his last 2 fights are not making for interesting chapters:lol:

It isnt borderline luf, excessive clinching/holding is illegal & should be treated as a foul. If Wlad consistently hit guys low, lead with his head or landed a lot of rabbit punches would you expect the referees to allow him to continue without punishment?

Wlad can only fight from range, he uses clinching/holding to negate the fact he cannot fight inside. As long as the K2 referees allow him to use these tactics(which are very effective) then he isnt going to stop. Its illegal but he is allowed to minimise one of his major weakness & dictate the range the fight will be fought at.

Beating fighters like Gavilan, Jack, Angott, Bolanos etc., and being a genuinely great fighter, almost technically flawless, is a greater accomplishment than dominating for 10 years against poor opposition.

Someone who is 'average' would dominate a division of 'poor' boxers. That doesn't mean the 'average' fighter then becomes 'great' because he's dominated. He's still an 'average' fighter but one who just happens to be in a higher class than the rest of the division. Dominance alone is hugely dependent on opposition.

Yeah, there's no way you could say it's "borderline". Mormeck is a shot fighter and Wlad would have beaten him anyway but that doesn't excuse the fact that Wlad held excessively against him. Like I've said before, Wlad held 16 times in the first round - that is not borderline. It's even more frustrating when you watch the fight because there isn't any reason for Wlad to hold. He literally just grabs Mormeck, who isn't throwing punches, and brings him in close. It's illegal and should be punished.

When you have that sort of advantage it makes a huge difference. It is simply not fair.

No real justification except being a hater for putting him outside the top20.
That said i have him just outside the top 10, few more wins though and he enters the top 10 for sure.

Wlad's style is faar less illegal than Lewis's, Holyfeilds, RUIZ's and I could go on and on and on.

Has it been that long since we saw the Lewis v Holyfield or Lewis vs Tua clinch fests.

Lewis will likely be the consensus GOAT in 20 yrs. But, I guess ppl like you, boxing purists, probably have him down in the lower teens because he liked to hold. Same with Holyfield or Ruiz.:rofl

I got Wlad, currently at 6-8 and Tyson as well. I got Lewis at 2, but, his win over Vitali will put him over Ali, IMHO if Vitali KOs Charr and Haye in his last 2 fights.:think
That will put Vitali in my top 10 @ 10 and give Lewis 3 wins over fellow top 10 ATGs. F/N incredible.

on career acomplishments Mccall,Rahman and Douglas are above sanders, but based on physical tools, potential on what they could do on a night if they showed up Sanders isnt too far away from the likes of Douglas,Rahman etc.Sanders had hand speed and was a lethal hitter, other fighters have vouched for that.Michael Sprott was a strong durable type that was blown out in a round by Sanders and in the build up to the Vitali-Sanders fight he was convinced Sanders would knock Vitali out.He stated that Sanders had freakish power that even when he hits the arms its like a baseball bat.Rahman also vouched for Sanders as the hardest hitters he's faced alongside Lewis.

Vlad underestimated Sanders imo and saw him as a warmup for a Lewis fight and Sanders put it all together.

I don't understand why people are so desperate to rate Wlad highly. You never see these topics about any other active fighter, such as Martinez, Mayweather, Pacquiao or whoever else. They're always about Wlad.

He's quite evidently got a poor record, has lost to sub-par opposition and yet people are still desperate to give him a high ranking. There is no historical basis for it, so I'm not sure where this attitude comes from. Why are people desperate to consider Wlad a great heavyweight?

Where does your gripe come from Jack?

Do you see this as an insult to the greats of the past? You can't raise your nostalgia filled glass to what we have infront of us?

Respect the past, but don't fail to appreciate the present.

Vitali took a huge bullet for Wlads career facing Lennox Lewis. Its the difference between Wlad being a vegetable and the current Hw champion. Wlad may have the better win resume but Lennox alone gives Vitali the edge in tough opposition. Vitali also avenged 2 of Wlads losses and performed much better against Sam Peter.

Wlad is the most protected fighter in the history of boxing, he is the only Heavyweight who has a 6'8 bodyguard in the division to watch over him. For this reason he should be ranked below EVERYBODY ELSE, but I will give him credit for the Chris Byrd and David Haye wins. Good but certainly not ATG wins

If Tommy Morrison had Vitali Klitschko as his protector he couldve done the exact same things as Wlad. Tommy was 45-2 with with 43 KOs going into the Lennox fight. Dodging that fight couldve prolonged his career and allowed him more time to develop.
