The stats would suggest that he's close but the reality is that he's nowhere near!

I'll believe the evidence of my own eyes over the statistics

If he goes until 40 and reaches 21 successful title defenses it would be tough to keep him out. That would put him at #2 all time in title defenses and #2 in how long he was champion.

If he beats Fury, the winner of Stiverne-Wilder, Jennings, and Pulev, then sure.

no atg ran in gibbering fear from a 38 year old nobody who just wiped him out in 200 seconds.

this is not the definition of 'great' in anyones book.

and its certainly not dominance - its picking weaklings and bullying them whilst kidding your sucker fans that you are dominant.

Somewhat close but not quite. ATG is a fairly flexible term - if you asked me whether he's an all time great HW, I'd certainly say yes. Among the best 10 fighters ever? Eh, bit of a stretch. He was crippled by his awful losses early in his career and by mediocre opposition. Best wins are Povetkin, Haye, Ibragimov and Byrd. Not bad, not quite top 10 ever worthy either.

The other thing is, even if Klitschko beat everyone in the field today, and won another 10 or 20 fights against the leapais and furys and so on. He would never be an atg. He missed his boat IMO. He started pro in 1996 after a long amateur career. Why did it take him until corrie sanders to fight a single non-shot relevent fighter. And the only reason he took the sanders fight was because he though sanders was shot (old guy with a belly). Between the Ross Purrity fight, the Sanders fight and the Brewster and Peters fight. I will always be convinced that Klitschko never became a better fighter, he just fought consistently weak opposition after losing. Bear in mind Wlad went 23-0 before meeting Purrity, so it is very easy to rack up these types of useless wins against weak opposition.

yes, since he certainly hasn't lost sleep worrying about stitching up his fanboys with continuous streams of regional fatboy opposition.

not like hes a moral kind of guy.

Exactly what would he need to do to earn your respect?
