It happens in the boxing game. Fighters get sick or injured in training. If you're not a mandatory challenger then there is no guarantee that you will ever get your title shot back. Mormeck hadn't done anything at heavyweight to garner a fight with the champion.

Looks like Wlad may be pulling out of another fight. I mean, this time it's understandable I suppose as his trainer is ill, but it does beg that question - is a contract with Wladimir Klitschko one of the most uncertain things in boxing?

I think there's more chance of Bob Arum telling the truth than there is of Wlad going a year without pulling out of a fight.

If you sign a K2 slave contract you can be certain of low wages, ridiculous clauses & scandalous options.

Whether or not Wlad actually turns up is another matter, Vitali is equally unreliable.

David Haye pulls out in 2009, 14 days before the fight should take place at Gelsenkirchen!!

    Chagaev steps in.

    Exactly. One fight.

He can't hold a candle to Wlad in terms of pulling out of contracted fights. Wlad is the ultimate king.

I don't understand why he cannot go on without Stewart. I understand he owes a lot to him, but by pulling out he'd be saying I am nothing without Manny, have not learned anything from him that I can apply without his presence and cannot win without him at my side. There are plenty of fighters who go on fighting without their trainers, even when its a last minute substitution. Wlad should just find another trainer to sub in (like Bashir)and get on with the job like a professional. Unless Stewart falls gravely ill a day or two before the fight and Wlad wants to be at his bed side to say his final good bye, this pull out would not be legitimate in my eyes.
