Is Wlads trashtalking the most effective in the game?

I'm perceptive enough to know that there is nothing funny about a grown up waving his hand about saying 'look at my magic hand'.

If that's the level of sophistication you like in your humour then fair enough. Here's a comedian you may enjoy:

Someone's reaction to something does not make it funny - that's not a reasonable barometer by which to measure humour.

If you happened to be stood next to a group of white supremacists and one of them cracks a racist joke about black people and the rest of the group start laughing, does that make it funny? No.

Look, I don't even care that much. it just wasn't clever, it wasn't witty - it just wasn't funny. No harm done, he's a decent guy.

Let's leave it at that

 

Take it one step further even. Can you imagine any past belt holder fight Valuev, edge a close victory in a disgraceful **** fight that disappointed boxing fans around the world and then go on world television and tell boxing fans how proud he is he beat the "biggest HW ever" and he's coming off a series of "spectacular victories".

This **** is so ridiculous sometimes I wonder how Haye can say this **** with a straight face!

 

Maybe you, and many others are paying too much attention to few sec segment from a long interview. I think it was pretty good interview and probably made few casuals (maybe even some ladies..) to buy the PPV.

This also might work for future If Wlad wins. Chisora fight probably happens and both Wlad&Derek having slightly different than usual personalities might be a factor for another PPV -> regardless of it being a mismatch.

 

Sorry Overhill - don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the interview and I like Wlad a lot. I was simply querying what the hell people found funny about the magic hand thing that was all. But as you say - it was just a tiiny moment in a decent and entertaining interview. That's why I said in my last post that I'd leave it there - people seem to be getting rather defensive about the whole thing and taking it personally.

The fanboys on either side make me laugh - it's not enough for them that their guy is the better fighter, they want him to be accepted as the funniest, the smartest, the best trash talker, the best at mind games and even the best looking!

I made a similar post about a Chisora fight the other day - I agree with you. Wlad has had huge exposure to the mainstream British sports market for the first time in his career, and he's come across very well indeed. That's only going to increase on fight night. If he beats haye in exciting fashion, and Chisora keeps winning that fight will be made. There are enought misguided and gullible Brits who would pin their hopes on Del Boy to exact revenge for Haye's defeat

If I was him, I'd probably play the I'm an ice cold robot, and will crush you angle. Wlad doesn't even understand the concept of trash talk but he tries anyway.
