Apparently all of the casuals go crazy for Jr because he was built by the Matchroom hype machine pretty much the same as Conor Benn?

I find that hard to believe as he has only fought on their channel 3x (Jeter, Spike and Doran). Hearn also started a smear campaign to try and ruin the Eubank name.

I'm not saying Jr had it hard but he was never built up to the extremes as Benn.

He fought on Channel 5 13x mostly as undercard filler and then fought 8x on Boxnation and was promoted as opponent to challenge their top prospect.

It has only been since ITV have taken him on that he has become a reasonable star, if he beats Groves he will be a superstar and ITV should take more credit than all of the other channels combined.

He was built up more than Benn was before their respective debuts with promotional videos and such. Fair enough, he has shown far more promise and talent, but I think it is wrong to say that Benn has had it harder - Conor has had it harder because of his poor judgement and actions and lack of performances in the right, perhaps, but not in terms of hyperbole regarding build up.

Conor has been the main support for PPV ffs, and every 5 mins sky are claiming him to be the most improved boxer in the sport. Conor is nowhere near the level to be held that high, not yet any way

When Jr fought BJS he was still not even the main event.

Who said he was built by the matchroom hype?!?! I see people say its because of his dad.

Plus i dont even buy that all the casuals love him so much because they certainly dont buy his ppvs!

Its funny because the PPV numbers have never been released and neither have Matchrooms.

So that's not a worthwhile comment

I have seen another poster claim Matchroom casuals love Jr but that isn't the case. I think he gets a lot of hype simply because he's undenieably an exciting fighter

Hearn doesn't release the exact number but when asked he gives an over/under.

I think the fact he's fought on so many platforms has meant he's been seen by a wider audience, though I think that has been as a result of his dad falling out with everyone instead of by design.

Benn like Eubank got their initial hype due to their surnames nothing else, what happened from there on can be argued but when they came through in the beginning it was purely down to what their fathers had done in the sport

Yes but I dont think it was anything like the 8 or 12 fight deal hype (what ever it was)with the old man Sky was the only show in town at that point They had destroyed ITV
Now we have boxnation and I myself just like that channel as it is a good channel

Also who remembers "Style On The Nile" where they could not get a good promoter
Looking back it may have not been good all the time
No wonder he went skint :)

I must admit, I don't know of many casuals who go crazy for Eubank. I don't think any hype he has can be attributed solely to Sky though. Prior to fighting on SKy he'd proven he is way way way way above Benn in levels. I think a lot of it will be down to ITV as much as it is Sky. Those little snippets on C5 and his BN days would have all added up collectively. Being on so many platforms as well as a fan friendly style is the reason for any hype, as well as his surname and his father's perpetually bizarre interviews.

I dare say all of the above was intentional and if so has been a marketing stroke of genius

Not a product of their hype jobbing, but I think he is hyped up more than he deserves

When you look into who he's fought it really isn't as impressive as he acts. Lost to BJS and beat Abraham are his two significant fights imo

That's not saying he isn't good and he can't win. Every fighter needs the big fight to prove themself and this is his. I just think currently he's massively over-hyped and over-rated (imo)

Why does everyone say cej is much better than Conor Benn? After 10 fights cej was if anything inferior to Benn. Cej has improved a lot. Now give Benn a chance to do likewise.
