Eubank in 10 fights looked better imo, plus you add to the fact he fought much better competition in his first 10 than Benn. Tyan Booth, Bradley Pryce, Harry Matthews etc.

I agree with daydorail. He's self promoted himself very well mainly. Between the name/snr...getting himself known on various channels and the big one...social media. He,s put himself in the position of being a main player in British boxing.

The training video,s are basically made for social media. Casuals lap that up all day. Hes, doing things a bit differently from most fighters.

Tbf to him he,s good to watch. Has that flashy style. He basically ticks every box. Don't think its fair to attribute the hype to one single aspect. I wouldn't,t even call it hype....more that he ticks a lot of the boxes that people want to see.

I m aware that technically he has misgivings that he tries to make up for with incredible workrate/ethic speed etc. But theres not really much not to like as a boxing fan watching him anyway. Its like saying you hate watching an attacking team at football.

Even if groves does finds him out I still say he's deserved the hype. Dedication. Hunger. Entertaining. Always on the attack. Good style to watch. Tried to do things his own way. Its hard to criticize someone like that even if they do end up failing.

Interested to see how he deals with groves tbh. Big fan of groves. But for a couple of years I ve always seen eubank as the one to beat him. Fancy groves against almost anyone at the weight as well.

Technically its a bit of a mismatch...but so was the froch v groves fight. I still don't think anyone can say with any certainty who will win this fight. Think the safe money has to go on groves...eubank has more to prove. Eubank should start that fight as an underdog. But fancy him to win it. Think groves will win the early rounds big...but groves is a bit of a frontrunner. Eubank just needs to get him working without giving much away before turning the heat up as the pace slows and the fight goes on.

Again tho the weight could be the biggest factor in this fight. Is the extra weight gonna be too much for eubank. Or is George at the end of the line at the weight. How many good rounds has he got in him till his tank goes. Hes done twelve against Murray and gunecht. But what happens when the opponents firing back just as much as he's giving out. Takes a lot more stamina than being in complete control. I m suspicious groves is struggling at the weight...has been since froch 1. He wasn't the same fighter in that second fight. No one actually alluded to it. But his speed had diminished a good bit from that first fight. He's at that age where the fighter finds himself in no mans land similar to kell brook. The body naturally gets too big for the weight class.

He's on about me. I said I know a lot of people who know very little about boxing. I mean the type of guys who prob wouldn't know who Riddick Bowe is and claim prime Tyson as ths GOAT and they all think CEJ is a potential great.

The only shows I know these berks to watch are Sky ones so that's where they'll have seen young Christopher amongst all the talk Sky were having about him being the man to potentially dethrone the monstrous Golovkin. This seems to have bothered the OP immensely but before Eddie touted him as a GGG opponent I don't remember him being of interest to the casuals I know.

Remember thay fight wherein a journeyman smashed CEJ's face in? You know, the one wherein he dropped him heavily and he looked like he'd been hit with a bat afterwards despite it not being a long fight. No? Me neither.

Uk p4p.....the usual suspects really if they win their fights coming up you would have to say Selby, Joshua, Frampton, bjs and maybe even throw Flanagan in there if win becomes two weight world champ and the winner of the wbss super middleweight would be my current top 5 or 6.

    Yourself?

Struggling to get to 10. Whack a returning Fury in there alongside the names mentioned and Groves/CEJ. Where I really would have a problem though is ranking them all at the minute. Everything feels very much up in the air at the minute.

So you don't think he benefitted from Sky talking him up as a potential opponent/conqueror of p4p rated Golovkin? No? GTFOH.

Fact is sky had involvement in only a few of CEj fights.

If anything his high profile today is due to the VARIETY of media ...including self-promotion on social media...that Chris jr has benefitted from in terms of widespread exposure and attention n from casuals, as you call them.

Its not all down to sky. Don't know why anyone with any sense would want to say otherwise to be honest.

I never said it was all down to Sky - I said that a lot of casuals jumped on his bandwagon around the time of his Sky run/promise he was going to take on/beat Golovkin. It played a decent part in hyping him.

If you want to talk about a nonsensical statement though you can always look at your comparison between Conor Benn and CEJ after Benn was totally exposed last time out. Junior has never been in any kind of trouble like that as a fighter despite fighting at a MUCH higher level. Not that that is saying much...

Easy in the hyperbole old boy.
You're overusing the word "casuals" a bit there, sweet stuff. Also over criticising Benn jr.
Rushing to condemn Benn jr simply because he struggled with a big tough opponent is the very epitome of casualesque behaviour. Also it goes without saying that you're overrating the role of sky in cejs fame, as pointed out by several others earlier.

At least Benn in his fights has actually competed for the full three minutes of a round. In his first 10 fights we were lucky if cej was active more than 30 seconds per round. Oh how soon we forget!!!! Very casualesque indeed.....:)

This is a totally cringeworthy post. I look forward to bumping it every time Benn gets smashed by a lower tier fighter. He's more Ross Minter than he is CEJ.

As for denying Sky having any involvement in raising Jr's profile. Whatever. If you want to play dumb to the effect being hyped by Sky as a GGG opponent had then fine.
