Compared to his best days, he's more than over the hill. But it's not that he burnt out (part of it). He had problems making 140, but never was physically a 147-er, which was a huge disadvantage vs. these natural WWs. Also, lack of focus pretty much made it impossible to build up the career his amazing skill level deserved. And tooks some beatings lately. At this moment, whether it's more physical or mental part, I don't know, but he's well past it... close to be 'shot'.
Thats the thing, sometimes a fighter cant make a certain weight comfortably anymore. Then he is fighting bigger men at a higher weight. But the critics will say 'he cant make the lower weight anymore, therefore hes got no excuse at ___ (welterweight)'. But in reality, hes fighting much bigger dudes, and having a harder time
not completely shot but definetly past prime. i'd still pick zab to beat hatton @ catchweight of 143.
He would give him a fight, but I wouldnt go that far! But I will say Zab in his prime decisions Hatton
i dont think he is... i think what we saw of him was all that it was. does he even take boxing seriously anymore?
He has been on the decline for about 2 years now. He is not aggressive anymore and has adapted a counter punch only style. You never see him lead anymore. His workrate is ****.
Zabs my fav. fighter so i'd hate to say it but Tzsyu ruined him......ever since then if he couldn't get an early stoppage or intimidate his opponent, he'd end up going into his shell and basically stop fighting, probably from the fear of getting KO'd again so no i dont think he's shot, i mean...he still has his handspeed, legs, power, everything physical he still has, but he lost his heart, so even if he trains hard for the fight, example against Clottey, it was suposibly his hardest training camp ever, and he weighed 143, and looked sharp in the rounds, but like always when he realized he couldn't intimidate Clottey, and he was gonna KO him, he lost his heart and went into his shell so yeah i just think he hasn't really been the same since then, only reason why he could beat Spinks is because he new he didn't have any power, so he didn't have to fear getting KO'd again
The above is all true. The term 'arrested development' comes to mind when thinking of Judah. It's quite a shame - he was only 23 and still forming as a fighter when he was fed to a Lion (Tszyu). Since then he's labored with some serious self-doubt.
he's not shot, combination of **** trainer, fghting at wrong wht class and has zero discipline. he still a good fighter, not what he was once before but still regarded highly.
