Wilder can take a punch now, based on what?

It's like the thousands of threads on "beyonce wilder's" horrendous glass jaw never existed. I remember there was at least 2 threads a day talking about Wilder's glass jaw since 2015 when he became WBC champ, people were just counting the number of days of when he'll be knocked out. When did he suddenly begin to have a sturdy chin, was it the Fury trilogy?

 

No ****. Wilder's chin is terrible. It's why he never really faced a top fighter in his prime until the light-hitting Tyson Fury, who predictably shattered his fragile mandible.

Zhang is hard hitter, certainly. But knocking out a glass jawed fraud like Wilder is not the proof of that, nor does it support this ridiculous assertion that he's the hardest hitter of all time.

Some of these posters here need a course in boxing history - this kind of nonsense is pure presentism!

 

I don't know why people rate Zhang so high all of a sudden. The same Zhang couldn't put away Parker or Hergovic. Beating Joyce and wilder doesn't make you the best in the current era let alone in "boxing history".This is pure trolling

 

You are generalizing. I have not once said Wilder has a glass chin. I didn't say he had an iron chin either. But he can take a punch. Took an absolute beating from Fury twice (yeah Fury is not a huge puncher but he's no featherfist) and Ortiz, who I think can bang pretty hard, landed some pretty good ones too.

Dunno whether he's the hardest hitter of all time, but I think he's probably in the top 7 big 'single punch' brigade. He's got the added huge mass behind it too.

Let's face it, if he catches you clean you're gonna go horizontal.

 

Zhang has never even fought a World Champion let alone knocked one out ! Plenty other Heavyweights fought and knocked out Champions. Zhang is no doubt a big hitter but look at the vast majority of his opponents,he’s like any other big punching prospect once the opposition gets harder and the bar is higher can he still knock them out ? Parker loss says no for me .

 

Nope. He is a hard puncher but its him being a southpaw that makes it hard for guys to defend against him. Its the inability to anticipate the punch.

If he was orthodox, he would be a very good puncher. But he isn't Foreman IMO. Its him being a southpaw that catches people off guard.

 

Potentially of this generation along with Wilder.

 

Tbh the Joyce KOs were very impressive.

 

Zhang's last two fights were against former world champions, one of which he knocked out.

 

Former being the word,no longer a Champion or good enough to hold a belt . Parker lost his belt over 6 years ago and Wilder lost his belt over 4 years ago .

 

The HW division has been rather stagnant the past few years with all the rematches and second chances Wilder and AJ were getting to be fair. You can only fight who's available.

It's not a case of not being good enough as opposed to not having the opportunity for title shots.

 

Explosive power and almost 300 pounds, I wouldn’t doubt it if he hits just as hard as anyone.
