Sorry Pharoah, but so will I. I'm gonna have to stick with my boy Zuniga, and if Pascal wins, he will have really made a statement with me.
I made a thread on Zuniga some time back stating that he is under-rated, under-promoted, under-appreciated, and under-respected. A bunch of people accused me of pumping Zuniga up in order to make Pavlik's resume' look better. That was bull****. In my opinion Zuniga is a much better fighter than he generally gets credit for, and he is one of my current favorites. Any fighter who gets in the ring with Zuniga better be the real deal. If they are not, Zuniga will expose them. Think Victor Oganov! At 160 Zuniga could beat everybody but Pavlik, and that includes abraham. He was slated to fight in an IBF eliminator, but the opponent was injured and had to back out. Instead of giving the fight to Zuniga Arthur fought the great Elvyn Ayala! In my opinion there were good reasons for that choice! At 168 Zuniga would beat Green, Codrington, Bika, and everyone else at that level. Fulgencio would simply out box Miranda and win a clear UD in a fairly competetive fight.
Pascal fighting Zuniga speaks directly to a point I made in my other post. We will find out what Pascal is made of, if he can handle Zuniga, he's probably got a future.
Nothing wrong with that though. In all honesty the only time I can recall seeing Pascal was against Pittman, and I understand Pascal had shoulder problems that night. I will however be very impressed if he can beat Zuniga.
Let's get back to the topic. Zuniga/Miranda looked like a real possibility at one point. Miranda/Pascal looked inevitable at one point. Now we have Zuniga/Pascal coming up. I think this fight is a geniune "sort 'em out" fight. It will tell us quite a bit about where these guys stand. The winner should fight Miranda, and the winner of that should get a shot at a major title.
Honestly i think that if Pascal wins this fight he is looking ahead of Miranda, unless Miranda comes off with a win over Abraham
If Miranda pulls out the win over Abraham, that will really stir the pot! That would would change a lot of things. It would diminish the importance of Pavlik/Abraham, and may cause Pavlik to move to 168 sooner than planned. Also, it's a bit odd, but from Pascal's perspective I think Zuniga is a better win than Miranda, but beating Miranda woud grab the spotlight, especially if Miranda beats Abraham. I'm looking forward to seeing how this all turns out!:bbb
