    Interesting development.

Rumored to be about the money not being to Pitbull's liking. To be clear, this isn't a necessarily over-and-done-with stonewall in negotiations - just an initial offer being rejected.

I agree, but if he's asking for a champ's purse, anything like what Tank got versus him (guaranteed mil plus 60% of PPV) then...he is either not serious about this fight or has unrealistic ideas about what he commands.

True. That bit of information is lacking.

ODLH called it "very lucrative", but that could just be promoter spin and damage control. Entirely possible they lowballed him.

They (ODLH) probably offer like $30,000.- to him

Supposedly it's more than what he made against Davis.

So if Cruz is confident there's no reason why he shouldn't take the fight considering he isn't a huge draw.

If Ryan beats him he doesn't get much credit, he just beat another midget. If he loses it's a huge blow to his career.

Cruz's people don't want to fight on DAZN ? That's the reason they reject that offer.

“No … I don't think so. I'd rather do a softer fight. So right now, we are going to him and talking to him about potential opponents, but he'll be back in either March or April."

    — Eric Gomez, Golden Boy Matchmaker, directly after Oscar claimed he made Cruz a lucrative offer

De La Hoya is a streg. And Garcia is perfect as his "boy".

I don't believe a word either of them has to say.

Cruz' doesn't really have any pull. He's a high risk low reward fighter.

I don’t blame him if the offer wasn’t strong. He doesn’t command A side money but he got some good exposure in the Davis fight. I thought he at least tied and was rewarded with the L. I’m surprised he’s even talking about a fight like this so soon after the loss. You would think he’d want to get a coupe wins in against lesser opposition before stepping up again. He’s only 23 I believe and is far from his best. I really like this kid and hope he gets good management. Garcia has been on the shelf for a while and might need to overpay to get a quality opponent like Cruz.

If Cruz loses this one, and he will be the underdog, he’s going to have trouble getting good fights with two losses in a row. He needs to be smart. That said, I hope they can get this one done. The size difference is going to be pretty big but Cruz is used to being the smaller guy.
