December 3rd at York Hall, set to air on the MTK Global channel on YouTube. 12 rounds @ featherweight in an IBFworld championship eliminator, even though López is absent from the IBF's rankings altogether (he is WBC #40 and WBA #11 up at super feather, where he most recently has fought). Lowe is ranked WBC #10, WBA #9, and IBF & WBO #8 at 126lbs. Honestly, in spire of him bringing the higher rankings, an undefeated record, and being under the umbrella of Ben Davison's tutelage - I don't see the feather-fisted Lanc doing very well against the Mexican. López has faced better opposition and was competitive in both of his pro losses, and since the latter one (to RV4) has picked up some quality victories that are far more impressive than Lowe's three draws.
Because Brits simply haven't gotten enough of Mexicans handing them their asses over the last 2 years. They go and sign up for another one. Lopez will ravage Lowe, and I actually like Lowe and think he's a quality operator. But Lopez is on a different level.
Thank you, so it wasn't just me, this is a pretty massive rake-step on MTK's part. Like they didn't bother doing any homework, just threw a dart at the rankings and said "hm, Mexican with two losses, eh? Book his flight, easy work!"
Absolutely not, the moment I saw it on Boxrec the other day when I was putting the schedule together in Kirk's League I almost slapped my head in disbelief. It's almost as if Brit promoters are literally incapable of learning from past mistakes, even if it's not theirs. I've run out of fingers and now I'm onto my toes when adding up all of the dunderheaded miscalculations from Matchroom and MTK Global that have resulted in "upsets" that a smart matchmaker could see coming a mile away. I'm starting to get the impression none of these guys KSAB. I picked Lopez for the Flores upset without hesitation, just based on how well I rate Ruben Villa and how impressive his victory over Vences was. I don't doubt he'll give Lowe the similar treatment. Lowe doesn't have the power to dissuade him and he's never dealt with someone this unpredictable, who throws from such awkward and unexpected angles.
So the winner gets kiko? I was kind of hoping we’d get Lowe vs Gill or the guy that just beat can xu fingers crossed for some nice odds on the Mexican
This is the fight the world has been waiting for Canelo move over. Isaac has to pull it out of the hat to edge this...very tough fight for him.
Betting odds out, and as this forum might have expected, Lowe is quite a big underdog. Looks like whereas matchmakers haven’t learnt their lessons of Mexican’s beating brits, the bookies definitely have. Lopez 1/4 Lowe 10/3 Draw 25/1
